A salary transfer letter tells a bank that you employ someone, what you pay them, and that you will pay their salary into their account there until the bank says otherwise. Fill in the bank, the employee and the monthly pay. The letter follows the undertakings in published UAE bank specimens and updates as you type.

The form starts with a worked example. Change any field.

Most banks have their own format

Banks usually ask the employer to sign the bank's own salary transfer letter form. Emirates NBD and Standard Chartered publish theirs, linked below. Both ask the employer to pay the salary into the account, to tell the bank if employment ends, and to pay the final dues to the account, and both say the letter is not a guarantee. This generator writes the same undertakings on your letterhead. Use it where the bank accepts the employer's own format, and use the bank's form where it has one.

This tool produces templates for general guidance. It is not legal advice. Check the final wording with your HR team, and for contracts with MOHRE (600 590 000) or a UAE employment lawyer.

Frequently asked questions

What is a salary transfer letter?

A letter from the employer to one bank. It confirms the employee's job, joining date and salary, and the employer undertakes to pay the salary into the employee's account at that bank, not to move it to another bank without the bank's clearance, and to tell the bank and pay the final dues to the account if employment ends. Banks ask for it before giving a loan, credit card or overdraft.

Is a salary transfer letter the same as a salary certificate?

No. A salary certificate only confirms employment and pay, and can be addressed to anyone. A salary transfer letter is addressed to one bank and contains the employer's undertakings to that bank. Use our salary certificate generator for the first.

What is a clearance letter?

It is the letter the bank issues once the employee's loan or card no longer needs the salary to be paid there, usually after it is repaid. In the Emirates NBD specimen, the employer undertakes not to move the salary to another bank until it receives a clearance certificate from the bank.

Does the employer guarantee the employee's loan?

No. Both published bank specimens say the letter is not a guarantee of repayment, and this letter says the same. The employer's undertakings are about where it pays the salary and the final dues, and about telling the bank if employment ends.

Can the employer deduct money before paying final dues to the bank?

Only as the law allows. The employer may deduct from end-of-service benefits amounts due under the law or a court judgment (Article 51(7)), such as a company loan or damage caused by the employee, following the procedures in Article 29 of the Executive Regulation. The letter refers to that limit instead of a general right to recover dues.

How do I work out the accrued gratuity?

Gratuity is due after one year of continuous service: 21 days' basic salary for each of the first five years and 30 days' basic salary for each year after that, pro rata for part years, capped at two years' wage (Article 51). Use our gratuity calculator, then enter the figure. The tool warns you if the employee has served less than a year or the figure is above the cap.

Does an employer have to issue a salary transfer letter?

We found no federal rule that requires one. It is a voluntary undertaking to a bank, which is why the employer should read it before signing.

Do you store what I type?

No. Your details are sent to our server only to build the preview and the DOCX or PDF file, and the letter is returned straight to your browser. Nothing is saved, logged or used for anything else, and you do not need an account.
