Salary slip generator: UAE payslip format with WPS fields

Enter one month's pay. The payslip splits earnings into fixed and variable pay, the same split a WPS salary information file uses, then lists deductions, gross and net pay and the net amount in words. A WPS box shows the pay period, the days in it and any days of unpaid leave.

The form starts with a worked example. Change any field.

How this maps to WPS

Mainland employers pay wages through the Wages Protection System (WPS) or another system MOHRE approves. In the salary information file (SIF), each employee's record holds the pay start and end dates, the calendar days paid, a fixed amount, a variable amount and the days of unpaid leave, and the fixed and variable amounts must add up to what is transferred. Your bank or payroll provider builds the SIF. This payslip is for the employee's records, and the law sets no standard payslip format.

This tool produces templates for general guidance. It is not legal advice. Check the final wording with your HR team, and for contracts with MOHRE (600 590 000) or a UAE employment lawyer.

Frequently asked questions

Does UAE law require a payslip in a set format?

We found no federal rule that sets a payslip format. What the law requires is that wages are paid on time through the Wages Protection System or another approved system, and that the employer can prove payment when asked. Many employers still give a monthly payslip, and some embassy visa checklists ask for recent ones.

What is WPS?

The Wages Protection System is MOHRE's electronic salary system. Employers registered with MOHRE pay wages through it, or through another system MOHRE approves, so the ministry can check that people are paid in full and on time.

When must salary be paid in the UAE?

Under Ministerial Resolution No. 598 of 2022, wages fall due on the first day of the month after the payday registered in the contract, and at least once a month. An employer that has not paid within 15 days of the due date is treated as late, unless the contract sets a shorter period.

What is the difference between fixed and variable pay?

Fixed pay is the amount agreed in the contract every month: basic salary and fixed allowances such as housing and transport. Variable pay changes from month to month, for example overtime, commission or a bonus. WPS records the two separately.

How much can an employer deduct from salary?

Deductions are only allowed in the cases listed in Article 25 of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021, such as loan repayments with the employee's written consent. All deductions together cannot exceed 50% of the wage. The generator warns you if the deductions go over half of gross pay.

How do I work out the deduction for unpaid leave?

Enter the amount your contract or payroll policy gives. The law does not set one formula for unpaid leave on a payslip. For the periods it does set, it counts a month as 30 days (Article 67).

Do you store what I type?

No. Your details are sent to our server only to build the preview and the DOCX or PDF file, and the letter is returned straight to your browser. Nothing is saved, logged or used for anything else, and you do not need an account.
