Against UAE job ads: AED 15,000 is higher than about 40% of the 738 live UAE job ads on JobXDubai that state a monthly salary (23 October 2026). Ads with a stated salary lean to professional roles, so this is a guide to the job market, not to everyone working in Dubai.

How we judge a salary

The verdict comes from what is left after a realistic month, as a share of your pay and in AED. Saving a large share of a small salary is still a small amount, so the AED figure caps the verdict.

  • Not enough: the budget costs more than you earn.
  • Tight: under 10% left.
  • Workable: 10% to 25% left, or under AED 2,500.
  • Good: 25% to 40% left, or under AED 8,000.
  • Very good: over 40% and over AED 8,000 left.

Salary in Dubai: questions

What is a good salary in Dubai in 2026?

Roughly AED 12,000 to 15,000 a month for a single professional, AED 18,000 to 25,000 combined for a couple, and AED 30,000 or more for a family of four once school fees are included. The calculator above shows where your own number lands for your household, area and lifestyle.

Is salary in Dubai tax free?

Yes. The UAE has no personal income tax, so the monthly salary in your contract is what reaches your account. Some nationalities still owe tax at home on worldwide income, so check your own tax residency rules.

How much of my salary should go on rent in Dubai?

Aim for no more than 30 to 35 per cent of your monthly pay. Rent is the biggest line in every Dubai budget, so the area you choose moves your savings more than anything else.

Is 3,000 AED enough to live in Dubai?

Only if your employer provides accommodation and transport. Paying your own way, 3,000 AED does not cover a shared room, food and transport. With housing provided you can usually save or send home AED 1,500 to 2,000 a month.

How much salary does a family need in Dubai?

A family of four generally needs AED 25,000 to 35,000 a month to live and save, mostly because of school fees. Private school fees in Dubai run from about AED 15,000 to over AED 100,000 per child per year.

Does my employer have to give me health insurance in Dubai?

Yes, your employer must insure you. Cover for your spouse and children is the sponsor's responsibility unless your contract includes it, which is why the calculator adds children's health cover as a separate line.

How does the calculator compare my salary with job ads?

We took the 738 live UAE job ads on JobXDubai that state a monthly salary in AED (23 October 2026) and used the mid-point of each range. Half of them pay under AED 20,000. Ads that state a salary lean to professional roles, so it is a guide to the job market, not to all earners.
