Mechanical Technician Trainee (SMP)

Mechanical Technician Trainee - (SMP) SMP: Supplementary Manpower Purpose Of Work: To perform refinery and associated facilities maintenance of Mechanical & Machinery Equipment, Condition monitoring and Mechanical seals refurbishment per Samref procedures and work instructions. This includes testing, failure diagnostics, repairs and preventive maintenance in addition to supporting callouts, emergencies, shutdowns and/or projects to ensure quality, reliability and productivity in accordance to Samref approved procedures. Regular Assigned Duties: • Get familiarized and ensure compliance with Samref Personal SHE/OIMS policies and procedures and comply with required general and specialized (e.g. Alky suits, etc.) personal protective equipment. • Use Job start discussion (JSDs) and continuous assessment of risks elimination (CARE) to ensure the job is fully understood and can be executed safely in accordance to SHE, OIMS and T1BP policies and procedures and maintain good housekeeping at work site and ensure workshop tidiness. • Conduct and submit regular Behavior Based safety observations (BBSO) and report near misses according to Samref SHE procedures. • Attend weekly safety meetings and commit to draw and adhere to the lesson learned during job executions. • Promote and encourage commitment toward safety practices compliance among colleagues from SHE/OIMS perspective. • Read and interpret schematics, Machinery Manual, QA/QC Manual, P&IDs, etc. for disassembly, assembly, repair, reassembly as required. • Use all kind of tools for repairs, diagnose and use Microlog programs to monitor equipment vibration and use specialist monitoring/measuring equipment on mechanical seals to diagnose malfunctions. • Perform repairs to the quality standards as established in QA/QC and Machinery Manual and international codes of practice as relevant to refinery and oil port Machinery. • Carry out Inspection, testing, repair, preventive maintenance and/or installation of various types of Machinery Equipment, Pumps (Centrifugal, Positive displacement, overhung, vertical, Double suction, Multistage) , Compressors, Steam Turbine, Motors, Fin Fan, Tanks mixer, Gearboxes. etc. • Perform daily Condition Monitoring routine (e.g vibration Check, oil condition system check for leaks, color etc. Record and report all checks being performed and report any abnormal conditions on daily basis and follow up actions as needed. etc. • As required, perform regular walk about to the unit, record the results and finding and submit to group leader for his attention. Assist in Root Cause Analysis investigation. • Perform repair of vibration probes and coordinate with DCS / Instrumentation (e.g. CCH monitors failures, etc.). Repair/replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery equipment. • Use certified/calibrated test equipment (e.g. Vibration Microlog, Temperature measurement laser gun, alignment kit etc.) Follow up recalibration certification. Examine parts for defects such as breakage or excessive wear. Assist Snr Tech in stripping, assessing, refurbishing and testing mechanical seals. • Remove, repair failed equipment from plant, decontaminate, disassemble, clean, and replace defective parts, and reassemble as required. Perform laser alignment (cold and hot) • Under the guidance of the group leader, collaborate with other disciplines to create an efficient, effective and unified work environment based on the principles of teamwork and mutual responsibility for shared objectives to diagnose and rectify root causes of failures. • Determine that the correct job tools, tackles, equipment, safety gear and materials are available based on the jobsite requirements. • Complete Machinery activities per Group Leader’s direction and according to the daily scheduled plan and keep group leader informed of status, progress, problems and related concerns. • Timely respond to all emergency calls during off shift hours to perform Machinery maintenance work and report and record the worked hours and job executed in the log. • Accept and timely respond to MCL approved priority one schedule break-in activities. • Accept and respond to be in shift coverage during emergencies and/or shutdowns • Accept and respond to be in callout schedule and timely respond to refinery call-ins. • Support MOC, MEIs and/or TSRs factory acceptance testing, execution, commissioning and/or startup. • Carry out other project work as and when required based on management direction. • As required, assist group leader and senior technicians in participating to refinery projects teams and provide maintenance input and comments toward new designs site experience, maintainability, consistency, spares interchangeability, witnessing factory acceptance testing, etc. • Support project execution in performing Machinery alignment and functional testing, commissioning and startup. • Assist group leader and senior technicians to ensure all projects’ as-built docume

Regular Assigned Duties include: ensuring compliance with Samref SHE/OIMS policies and PPE; conducting Job Start Discussions (JSDs) and CARE risk assessments; submitting Behavior Based Safety Observations and reporting near misses; attending weekly safety meetings; promoting safety compliance among colleagues; reading and interpreting schematics, Machinery Manuals, QA/QC Manuals, P&IDs; using tools and Microlog for vibration monitoring and specialist equipment for mechanical seals diagnostics; performing repairs to QA/QC and international codes; inspecting, testing, repairing, and installing various Machinery Equipment (pumps, compressors, steam turbine, motors, gearboxes, tanks, etc.); daily condition monitoring (vibration checks, oil condition, leaks, color, etc.); conducting unit walkarounds, assisting in Root Cause Analysis; repairing vibration probes and coordinating with DCS/Instrumentation; using calibrated test equipment (vibration Microlog, laser alignment, etc.); removing, repairing, decontaminating, assembling machinery components; performing laser alignment; collaborating with other disciplines; ensuring availability of tools, safety gear, and materials; completing machinery activities as directed and reporting progress and issues; responding to emergencies and shift coverage; supporting MOC, MEIs, and TSRs in testing, commissioning, and startup; participating in refinery projects and providing maintenance input on designs, maintainability, spares interchangeability, and factory acceptance testing; assisting in project execution for machinery alignment and commissioning; ensuring as-built documentation is maintained.
