Electrical Technician (SMP)

Electrical Technician - (SMP) SMP: Supplementary Manpower Purpose Of Work: To perform refinery and associated facilities electrical repairs, PM, installation and switching (i.e. isolate/re-energize, transfer, etc.). Regular Assigned Duties: • Perform daily substations walkabout and report any equipment status changes or abnormality to Group leader. • With senior technician assistance for complex activities, carry out substations and distribution system repair and PM (e.g. transformers, switchgear, pf capacitors, MCC, UPS, Battery chargers, substation annunciators etc.) • carry out process located electrical equipment repairs and PM (e.g., motors (Induction and sync type), MOVs, electric heaters, electric heat tracing, cathodic protection, lighting and emergency lighting distribution panels (LDPs& ELDPs), Soot Blowers control system, electrostatic desalters and coalescer transformers, ships loading arm system and mooring hook, QRA fire water monitoring system, fire alarm system and CCTV and various types field located PLCs as related to electrical. • Carry out substations and equipment switching, isolation and/or re-energization (e.g. motors, switchgears, etc.) • Carry out refinery& off sites re lamping and beacon lights repairs in addition to PM for emergency lighting panels (ELDP). • Provide portable lights during emergencies, shutdown or whenever deemed necessary. • Carry out weekly emergency generators run test. • Carry our motors and motor control circuits PM (e.g. meggering, PdMA, etc.) • Carry out monthly and quarterly PM for critical electrical systems batteries (e.g. refill, cleaning, tightening, charging, load testing, etc.) • Carry out regular fire alarm proof testing, record and report result. Education: Associate degree or diploma in Electrical Technology or equivalent. Experience: Minimum 2 years of related experience. Associate degree or diploma in Electrical Technology or equivalent. Minimum 2 years of related experience.

Perform daily substations walkabout and report equipment status changes. With senior technician assistance, carry out substations and distribution system repair and preventive maintenance (transformers, switchgear, PF capacitors, MCC, UPS, battery chargers, substation annunciators). Repair and preventive maintenance of process located electrical equipment (motors including induction and synchronous, MOVs, electric heaters, electric heat tracing, cathodic protection, lighting and emergency lighting distribution panels, Soot Blowers control system, electrostatic desalters, coalescer transformers, ships loading arm system and mooring hook, QRA fire water monitoring system, fire alarm system and CCTV, PLCs). Carry out substations and equipment switching, isolation and re-energization. Conduct re-lamping and beacon light repairs for refinery and off-site areas, plus PM for emergency lighting panels. Provide portable lights during emergencies or shutdowns. Conduct weekly emergency generator run tests. Carry out PM for motors and motor control circuits (meggering, PdMA, etc.). Carry out monthly and quarterly PM for critical electrical systems batteries (refill, cleaning, tightening, charging, load testing). Perform regular fire alarm proof testing, record and report results.
