About the role

Our Corporate & Commercial team is growing, and we are looking for an Associate/Senior Associate to join us in Kuwait. The work we do is the best reason to consider this role. Our team advises on acquisitions of stakes in operating companies, from due diligence through signing and post-completion integration; joint ventures between Kuwaiti investors and partners across the GCC; investment structuring; corporate governance; shareholder matters; technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) work, including regulatory compliance for fintech and technology clients under Central Bank of Kuwait and consumer protection rules; and a steady flow of commercial agreements in Arabic and English, from distribution and franchise to SaaS, data and employment. We also work regularly with international firms on cross-border matters, touching more than 25 jurisdictions in the past year alone. Our practice is broad, and we would welcome a candidate who has worked across most of it. The minimum requirement is genuine strength in five core areas: • Corporate governance: board duties, shareholder rights, and the mechanics of corporate decision-making • Share purchase agreements and shareholders’ agreements • Joint ventures and partnership structures • Investments and M&A, including running legal due diligence • Drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements Strength in these five areas is what we are hiring for. Everything else, you can learn with us. Who we are looking for: • A qualified lawyer with at least five years’ corporate and commercial experience in private practice. • Fluent in Arabic and English, with the ability to draft and negotiate in both. This is essential. • Based in Kuwait, or willing to relocate from elsewhere in the GCC. • Someone who runs a matter, not just a task: owns the client relationship, manages the timeline, supervises juniors, and knows when to escalate. • A drafter who takes pride in the quality of their documents. • Experience in Islamic finance or TMT is a plus. What you get: • Varied, high-quality work with direct client contact and real responsibility from day one. • Direct access to the partners; a flat team where a good idea gets heard regardless of who raised it. • Regular cross-border exposure through our work with international firms. How to apply: • Send your CV, together with a short note on the two or three matters you are proudest of and your role in each, to [email protected]. We read every application carefully and appreciate the time you take to apply.
