Senior Electrical Technical Engineer

Company: MTEC Electromechanical Works LLC Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Employment Type: Full-time Openings: 1 Minimum Experience: 15+ years of directly relevant experience ABOUT THE ROLE Provide senior electrical technical leadership for design review, calculations, shop drawings, material approvals, authority interfaces and construction support, ensuring electrical systems are technically compliant, coordinated and buildable. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Review electrical contract drawings, specifications, BOQs, design criteria, single-line diagrams, load schedules and tender clarifications and identify omissions, conflicts and design risks. • Prepare/review electrical shop drawings, coordinated layouts, builders-work requirements, schematics, panel schedules, technical submittals, RFIs and design clarifications. • Perform or verify load flow, cable sizing, voltage drop, short-circuit, discrimination/selectivity, earthing, lightning protection, lighting and equipment-selection calculations as applicable. • Coordinate LV/MV interfaces, lighting, small power, emergency power, UPS, generators, fire alarm, ELV/BMS interfaces, earthing and lightning protection with all other disciplines. • Review vendor technical data and compliance statements and support procurement in evaluating transformers, switchgear, panels, cables, containment, lighting and specialist systems. • Lead electrical technical coordination with consultant, client, authorities, BIM and site teams and close comments within agreed turnaround times. • Ensure electrical installation requirements are fully reflected in coordinated drawings, access zones, ceiling coordination, plantroom layouts and equipment maintenance clearances. • Support site teams in resolving technical queries, field changes, NCRs and commissioning issues; ensure approved changes are captured in as-built documentation. • Support authority submissions/inspections and testing and commissioning documentation in accordance with project jurisdiction requirements. • Mentor electrical technical engineers and perform disciplined checking of submissions before external issue. REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. • Minimum 15 years of relevant electrical MEP experience, preferably with a major MEP contractor on complex building projects. • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution, lighting, earthing/lightning protection, emergency systems and ELV interfaces. • Good working knowledge of applicable IEC/BS/NFPA requirements and relevant UAE authority standards. • Proven hands-on experience with shop drawings, calculations, material submittals, consultant comments and authority approval processes. • Proficiency in AutoCAD; working knowledge of Revit/Navisworks and electrical calculation software is preferred. • UAE/GCC experience in high-rise, residential, hotel, commercial, healthcare or mixed-use projects is strongly preferred. • Strong technical communication, review discipline and coordination skills.
