The Assistant Housekeeping Manager supports the efficient management of daily housekeeping operations, ensuring guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces consistently meet the property’s standards of cleanliness, presentation, hygiene, and guest comfort. The role assists in leading the housekeeping team, coordinating room readiness, managing resources, and maintaining seamless collaboration with other departments within a luxury hospitality environment. Main Duties: - Support the Housekeeping Manager/Director of Housekeeping in overseeing daily housekeeping operations across guest rooms, suites, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. - Coordinate room assignments, cleaning priorities, and colleague deployment according to occupancy, arrivals, departures, VIP movements, and operational requirements. - Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, suites, corridors, pantries, public areas, and service areas to ensure compliance with established quality standards. - Monitor room-cleaning progress and room status, ensuring arrival rooms, priority rooms, and VIP accommodations are inspected and released on time. - Lead, train, coach, and develop Housekeeping Team Leaders, Room Attendants, and other colleagues to maintain consistent performance and service standards. - Conduct daily briefings and communicate occupancy levels, room priorities, VIP arrivals, guest preferences, special requests, and departmental updates. - Coordinate closely with Front Office, Engineering, Laundry, Security, and other departments regarding room readiness, maintenance concerns, linen requirements, and guest requests. - Ensure VIP rooms, suites, amenities, special arrangements, and personalized guest preferences are prepared accurately and within the required timelines. - Respond professionally to guest requests and concerns, ensuring prompt service recovery, appropriate follow-up, and escalation when necessary. - Monitor staffing levels, duty rosters, attendance, productivity, and overtime while ensuring efficient workforce utilization according to business demand. - Control linen, guest supplies, cleaning materials, operating equipment, and departmental inventories to minimize wastage and maintain required stock levels. - Ensure maintenance defects, damaged items, and safety concerns are accurately reported, prioritized, and followed through until completion. - Maintain compliance with hygiene, sanitation, chemical handling, workplace safety, security, key control, lost-and-found, and departmental procedures. - Support departmental budgeting and cost-control activities by monitoring expenses, productivity, inventory consumption, and resource utilization. - Assist with colleague performance reviews, training plans, recruitment, onboarding, and succession development to maintain an engaged and capable team. - Review guest feedback, inspection results, room discrepancies, and operational reports to identify trends and implement corrective or preventive improvements. - Ensure housekeeping pantries, linen rooms, offices, storage areas, trolleys, and back-of-house facilities remain organized, secure, and properly maintained. - Assume responsibility for the department in the absence of the Housekeeping Manager/Director of Housekeeping and ensure uninterrupted operations across all shifts. - Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Hospitality Management, Housekeeping Operations, Hotel Management, or a related discipline. - Minimum 4–5 years of relevant housekeeping experience, including at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or assistant managerial role within a luxury hospitality environment. - Strong knowledge of housekeeping operations, room inspections, public-area standards, linen management, inventory control, chemical handling, and workplace safety procedures. - Proven leadership experience in supervising Team Leaders and Room Attendants, with the ability to manage training, performance, productivity, scheduling, and colleague development. - Excellent attention to detail, organization, communication, problem-solving, and guest-relations skills, with the ability to manage escalated concerns professionally. - Good operational awareness, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, property-management systems, and housekeeping applications; knowledge of budgeting and cost control is preferred.
