Senior Accountant

Purpose of Job Jobholders at this level are capable of operating with minimal supervision. They work within guidelines and procedures in order to prepare more complex, specialized or ad-hoc reports in their related field. They contribute to the completion of milestones or operational targets within the assigned functional area. They undertake operational activities including supporting other functions in closing processes, and developing required reports. Job Resposiblites • Develop financial statements, chart of accounts, financial position forecasts, and other reports required by management in a timely and accurate manner • Provide support to other functions regarding accounting and closing policies and procedures, efficient controls, and utilization of financial resources • Assist functions in monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes and provide required support and training • Tackle non-compliance cases resulting from audits/ General Court of Audit findings and implement corrective measures to mitigate risks and recurrence • Monitor the recording of transactions, journal entries and postings to ledgers assessing accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards • Review bank reconciliations for all bank accounts ensuring matching • Execute periodic (daily, monthly, quarterly, yearly) closing processes, communicate with internal stakeholders to fix discrepancies, and report non-compliant cases • Review periodic financial reports ensuring reported results comply with financial reporting standards Job Details Follow all relevant policies, processes and standard operating procedures so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner • Help in solving escalated problems and provide needed support for junior team to ensure work is carried out in an efficient manner • Escalate complex problems to the relevant person to ensure cases/issues are closed properly • Perform other duties as requested Communication and Contacs Education Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent is required Experience A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience Competencies Information Systems Knowledge - Developing Collaboration and Communication - Developing Professionalism - Developing Asset Management - Proficient Accounting Standards and Practices - Developing Results Oriented - Developing Customer Focus - Developing Financial Reporting and Control - Proficient Enablement of Change and Innovation - Developing Risk Assessment and Management - Developing Financial Planning and Analysis - Developing

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent is required. A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
