Integration & API Tester (IBM WebMethods)

Job Summary We are looking for an experienced Integration & API Tester (IBM webMethods) to validate enterprise integrations, APIs, middleware services, and end-to-end message flows. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in IBM webMethods, REST/SOAP API testing, integration testing, and data validation across multiple systems. The candidate should be capable of identifying integration issues, validating error-handling mechanisms, and ensuring reliable data exchange between internal and external applications. Key Responsibilities • Perform integration testing of enterprise applications, middleware services, APIs, and message flows using IBM webMethods. • Conduct functional, negative, and end-to-end API testing for REST and SOAP services. • Validate data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across interconnected systems. • Test idempotency, retry mechanisms, timeout handling, error responses, and exception-handling scenarios. • Validate request and response payloads, headers, status codes, schemas, and business rules. • Design, develop, and execute test cases, test scenarios, and test data for integration workflows. • Use API testing tools such as Postman and SoapUI to validate API functionality and service behaviour. • Verify message transformation, routing, and data mapping across integrated applications. • Identify, document, track, and retest defects in collaboration with development and integration teams. • Perform regression testing following middleware configuration changes, API updates, and defect fixes. • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and technical teams to troubleshoot integration failures. • Prepare test execution reports, defect summaries, and test completion documentation. Required Skills & Experience • Hands-on experience with IBM webMethods and enterprise integration testing. • Strong knowledge of REST and SOAP APIs, including request/response validation and HTTP status codes. • Experience with middleware, message flows, and system-to-system integrations. • Proficiency in API testing tools such as Postman and SoapUI. • Experience validating data integrity, data mapping, transformations, and consistency across systems. • Strong understanding of functional, negative, regression, and end-to-end integration testing. • Practical experience testing idempotency, retries, timeouts, exception handling, and failure scenarios. • Ability to analyse API responses, logs, and integration errors to identify root causes. • Experience in test case design, defect reporting, and test documentation. • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Skills • Experience with API automation and scripting. • Knowledge of JSON, XML, XSD, and message payload validation. • Familiarity with SQL and database queries for backend data verification. • Understanding of authentication and authorization mechanisms, including OAuth 2.0 and API tokens. • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated regression testing. • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and using defect-tracking tools such as Jira.
