Structural Steel Design & Detailing Engineer

The role We are looking for a steel structures engineer who can do real design work and also understands what it takes to build the design in a workshop. This is a fabrication-side role, not a design-office or site-supervision role for concrete structures. Responsibilities Design • Design steel members, connections, base plates, and secondary steelwork • Build and run analysis models and check results against project codes • Prepare design calculations and technical submissions for clients and consultants • Respond to client comments and clarifications on design and drawings Fabrication and project support • Review and approve shop drawings and erection drawings, and coordinate with detailers • Prepare weight takeoffs and material lists • Support estimating and tender pricing for new RFQs • Support QA/QC documentation, including ITPs, material traceability, and inspection records • Work with the workshop team on fabrication tolerances and technical queries Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering • 3+ years of hands-on experience in structural steel design and/or fabrication (PEB, heavy steel structures, industrial steelwork) • Proficiency in STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, or ETABS for steel structures • Proficiency in Tekla Structures or equivalent detailing software • Proficiency in IdeaStatica and designing connections • Solid knowledge of AISC, Eurocode 3, or SBC 306 steel provisions • Strong knowledge of steel connection design and welding and bolting requirements • Good written English for technical submissions • Experience with estimating or tender preparation in a fabrication company • Knowledge of AWS D1.1, ISO 3834, or ISO 9001 QA/QC requirements Please note: candidates whose experience is in RCC or concrete design only will not be considered.
