Heavy Driver – 10 Ton Truck Position Summary A Heavy Driver (10 Ton) is responsible for operating 10-ton capacity trucks to transport goods, equipment, or materials safely and efficiently. The role involves vehicle inspection, secure loading, compliance with road safety regulations, and timely deliveries. Key Responsibilities Driving & Transport • Operate a 10-ton truck safely for transporting materials, equipment, or goods. • Follow designated routes and schedules provided by supervisors or dispatchers. • Drive long or short distances depending on operational needs. • Maintain safe driving practices in compliance with traffic laws and company policies. Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance • Conduct daily pre-trip, mid-trip, and post-trip vehicle inspections. • Check brakes, lights, tires, steering, fuel, fluid levels, and other critical components. • Report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team promptly. • Ensure the truck is kept clean and in good working condition. Cargo Handling • Load and unload goods as required, ensuring correct handling. • Secure cargo properly to prevent shifting or damage during transit. • Ensure goods are delivered in proper condition and quantity. Documentation • Maintain accurate delivery records, trip logs, fuel usage, mileage sheets, and other transportation documents. • Obtain signatures for deliveries and submit relevant documents to the office. • Verify delivery instructions and ensure proper documentation for transported materials. Compliance & Safety • Adhere to company safety rules, traffic regulations, and legal road transport requirements. • Use PPE and follow safety procedures when loading/unloading. • Report accidents, delays, or hazards immediately. Communication & Coordination • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse supervisors, and customers. • Coordinate with team members regarding routes, schedules, and cargo requirements. • Notify supervisors of any changes or issues encountered during trips. Qualifications & Skills • Valid Heavy Vehicle License (appropriate for 10-ton trucks). • Minimum 2–5 years of experience driving heavy trucks (or as specified by employer). • Good knowledge of traffic laws and road safety regulations. • Ability to perform basic truck maintenance and safety checks. • Strong communication and time management skills. • Physical ability to assist with loading and unloading when required. Working Conditions • May involve long driving hours and shift work. • Exposure to hot, cold, or dusty environments depending on location. • Long-distance or local routes based on company operations.
