Senior Legal Counsel - UAE Corporate & Commercial Law Location: Dubai, UAE Travel: Occasional business travel to Abu Dhabi and other GCC countries Job Summary On behalf of Huawei, a world-renowned IT and Communications Company, we are seeking, we are looking for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to provide legal and regulatory support for the company's business operations in the UAE and across the GCC. The role will work closely with internal business teams, government authorities, external legal counsel, and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will provide practical legal guidance, support commercial negotiations, manage legal risks, and help ensure compliance with applicable UAE laws and regulations. This is a business-facing legal role suited to a legal professional with strong knowledge of UAE law, commercial contracts, regulatory matters, and experience working with government or regulatory stakeholders. Responsibilities • Represent and support the company in dealings with UAE government authorities and relevant regulatory bodies, including coordinating responses to official inquiries and investigations and representing the company where duly authorized. • Provide legal support for the company's Cloud, solar energy, and other business activities, including advising on regulatory requirements, new business models, legal risks, and risk mitigation strategies. • Draft, review, negotiate, and provide legal advice on a wide range of commercial contracts with customers, suppliers, partners, and other stakeholders. • Identify legal and regulatory risks and provide practical, commercially appropriate recommendations to internal stakeholders. • Provide timely legal and compliance advice relating to the company's day-to-day business operations. • Support major business and commercial negotiations from a legal and risk-management perspective. • Coordinate and manage external law firms, including monitoring deliverables, quality, timelines, and legal service costs. • Monitor relevant developments in UAE laws, regulations, and regulatory requirements and communicate their potential business impact to relevant stakeholders. • Support legal matters across the UAE and, when required, other GCC markets through occasional business travel. • Support internal departments in resolving legal matters and ensuring business activities are aligned with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. • Perform other legal responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law from a recognized university. • Minimum 5 years of relevant legal experience. • Strong knowledge of UAE laws and regulations, particularly: • Commercial Law • Civil Law • Data Protection and Privacy Laws • Labour Law • Other relevant UAE regulatory frameworks • Demonstrated experience in contract drafting, review, negotiation, and legal risk assessment. • Experience interacting with UAE government authorities, regulatory bodies, or other public-sector stakeholders. • Strong understanding of legal and regulatory requirements affecting businesses operating in the UAE. • Strong written and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English. • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify key legal issues and provide practical business-oriented solutions. • Ability to work effectively with multiple internal stakeholders and manage several legal matters simultaneously. • Ability to travel within the UAE and occasionally to other GCC countries as required. Preferred Qualifications • Experience as an in-house legal counsel within a multinational company. • Experience with an international law firm providing advice to corporate clients. • Experience in the technology, telecommunications, Cloud, renewable energy, solar energy, or other technology-driven industries. • Experience supporting major commercial projects or complex negotiations. • Experience managing external law firms and legal service providers. • Familiarity with GCC legal and regulatory environments. • Experience supporting regulatory investigations, government inquiries, or official correspondence.
