What you'll be doing As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical engineering solutions across complex data centre projects. Your responsibilities will include: • Leading the mechanical design of hyperscale and mission-critical data centres from concept through detailed design and IFC documentation. • Designing chilled water systems, cooling plants, heat rejection systems, ventilation systems, and high-density cooling infrastructure. • Producing and reviewing Basis of Design (BOD), Design Basis Reports (DBR), technical specifications, equipment schedules, calculations, and engineering reports. • Performing HVAC load calculations, hydraulic calculations, ventilation calculations, equipment sizing, and system selection. • Supporting the integration of advanced cooling technologies including Direct-to-Chip Liquid Cooling (DCLC), Rear Door Heat Exchangers (RDHx), In-Row Cooling, Fan Wall Units, and CDU systems. • Coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure fully integrated project delivery. • Participating in design reviews, technical workshops, value engineering, and client presentations. • Reviewing vendor submissions and supporting equipment selection throughout the project lifecycle. • Supporting commissioning activities, responding to technical queries, and providing construction phase engineering support. • Ensuring designs comply with international codes, client standards, and internal quality management procedures. What we're looking for You'll ideally bring: • Degree in Mechanical Engineering. • Around 8–12 years of experience in mechanical building services design within a consultancy environment. • Strong experience delivering hyperscale or mission-critical data centre projects. • Proven experience designing chilled water systems, HVAC systems, cooling plants, and mechanical infrastructure. • Understanding of high-density cooling technologies including liquid cooling and AI-ready infrastructure. • Knowledge of ASHRAE, TIA-942, NFPA, SMACNA, and other relevant international standards. • Experience producing detailed engineering calculations, technical reports, and IFC documentation. • Proficiency with engineering software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Carrier HAP, IES, Pipe-Flo, or equivalent design tools. • Strong communication skills with experience working directly with clients and multidisciplinary project teams. • Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to technical excellence within engineering teams is desirable.
