Civil Planning Engineer

Job Title: Planning Engineer Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE Industry: Construction / Main Contracting Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Planning Engineer to join our project team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules, analyzing project progress, identifying delays, and supporting the successful delivery of construction projects within the planned timelines. Key Responsibilities • Prepare and maintain project baseline schedules using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project. • Develop recovery schedules, look-ahead programs, and revised project plans as required. • Monitor project progress and compare actual performance against planned schedules. • Analyze project delays, identify critical path activities, and recommend corrective actions. • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for management, consultants, and clients. • Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, procurement teams, and subcontractors to ensure schedule compliance. • Perform resource loading, manpower planning, and productivity analysis. • Support project cost control activities and performance measurement. • Track project milestones and ensure timely achievement of deliverables. • Review construction methodologies and sequencing to optimize project execution. • Attend progress meetings and provide planning-related updates and recommendations. • Maintain accurate planning records and project documentation. Qualifications & Requirements • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline. • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Planning Engineer with a main contracting company. • Strong proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project. • Sound knowledge of project planning, scheduling, and progress monitoring techniques. • Experience in preparing baseline schedules, recovery schedules, and look-ahead programs. • Knowledge of resource loading, project controls, and cost management principles. • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, project sequencing, and execution processes. • Ability to analyze project performance and identify schedule risks and delays. • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. • Strong communication and coordination abilities. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Preferred Qualifications • UAE/GCC construction experience. • Experience working on commercial, residential, infrastructure, or mixed-use construction projects. • Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) and project performance analysis.
