Department purpose Our Global Financial Markets (GFM) team covers an exciting and broad area of capital markets. We work with colleagues across practice groups and jurisdictions on helping governments, supranational entities and the world’s most successful financial institutions and companies fund themselves and manage risk. Our work shapes market practice and our lawyers are involved in innovative, cutting edge and high-profile deals. We have advised on many industry ‘firsts’, including some of the most innovative transactions in sustainable finance and digital bonds. In recent years we have also advised clients on complex funding matters as they navigate difficult economic conditions and often act as a client’s first port of call in times of market crisis. Role & responsibilities Assisting with the day-to-day management of transactions Preparing legal documents for execution Legal research and know how development Drafting standard and more complex documents, including precedents Providing strategic guidance to clients Managing client expectations and project delivery appropriately Business development - development of personal plan, assistance with and implementation of business development campaign Key requirements Qualified lawyer – NQ – 3 PQE Self-starter with the desire and ability to continuously acquire, build upon and share knowledge Sound experience of operating within a complex international organisation Strong commercial/business acumen with the ability to deliver creative and pragmatic solutions and advice Strong legal and analytical skills Proven prioritisation, organisational and project management skills Excellent communication, professionalism and interpersonal skills Organised and methodical approach to work High level of accuracy and attention to detail Ability to work within a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines Positive attitude and style with both clients and fee-earners Proactive and confident with a high level of initiative A&O Shearman is a new global industry-leading law firm, with nearly 50 offices in 29 countries worldwide. Qualified lawyer – NQ – 3 PQE. Self-starter with the desire and ability to continuously acquire, build upon and share knowledge.
