Apply now » Title: Chief Electrician (Talent Pool) Job Job Location Field / Rig Reports to Rig Superintendent Job Purpose The Chief Electrician plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of drilling rig electrical systems. You will be overseeing all aspects of electrical maintenance, repair, installation, and troubleshooting. The Chief Electrician ensures compliance with electrical codes, safety regulations, and company procedures, while contributing to the overall success of drilling operations. This includes performing duties in the maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment, ordering parts, and administering the Preventive Maintenance System (PMS) to ensure all electrical equipment is serviced according to schedule. Key Tasks & Responsibilities Electrical System Management Safety & Regulatory Compliance Technical Expertise Procedures and Regulations Electrical Equipment Installation & Maintenance Electrical Equipment Maintenance & Repair Equipment Installation & Repair Emergency Response Preventive Maintenance Project Management Recordkeeping & Documentation Team Leadership & Supervision Commissioning Additional tasks Total Years of Experience (Minimum) 10 years in onshore or offshore drilling operation with 3 Years as Chief Electrician Relevant Experience Strong understanding of electrical principles, applications, and safety protocols in hazardous environments. Proven experience in leading and motivating a team of electrical technicians. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and execute electrical projects efficiently. Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (SAP) (a plus). Good knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Field Devices (FD), network communication types and troubleshooting. Proficiency in computer software, computer hardware, and drilling electrical equipment. Ability to use electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Familiarity with cable size international standards and the ability to perform basic power calculations. Strong knowledge of drilling equipment and rig operations. Total minimum 10 years of experience in onshore or offshore drilling operations, including at least 3 years serving as Chief Electrician. Diploma in Electrical Engineering. Strong understanding of electrical principles, safety protocols in hazardous environments. Proven leadership experience supervising electrical technicians. Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (SAP) is a plus. Proficient in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Field Devices (FD), network communication types and troubleshooting.
