AECOM
Inspect steel erection, alignment, and fit-up for frames, trusses, bracing, platforms, and miscellaneous metal works against approved drawings and tolerances. Verify welding processes, welder qualifications, WPS/PQR compliance, preheat/interpass temperatures, and carry out visual weld inspection; coordinate NDT (UT, MT, PT, RT) with third parties and review reports. Check high-strength bolting: bolt grades, storage/handling, installation methods (TC/SNUG/turn-of-nut), torque/tension verification, and calibration certificates. Review and witness surface preparation and protective coatings: cleanliness (e.g., SSPC/ISO), DFT measurements, curing, and holiday testing where applicable. Confirm material compliance: mill certificates, heat numbers, traceability, and correct section sizes/grades; verify shop/erection marks and traceability logs. Monitor dimensional tolerances and geometry: plumb, level, camber, sweep, and gaps; verify setting-out, base plate levels, grout, shims, and anchor bolt installation/tensioning. Review and implement ITPs, method statements, shop/erection drawings, and manufacturer technical data; raise queries for discrepancies. Conduct surveillance and hold-point inspections; issue and track IRs, MIRs, NCRs, and corrective actions to closure. Maintain daily site diaries, inspection checklists, photo records, redlines, and weekly progress/quality summaries. Coordinate with the Resident Engineer, Structural Engineer, QA/QC, HSE, and Contractor teams to resolve site issues promptly. Support lifting and installation activities: verify rigging plans, temporary works stability, and safe sequencing of erection. Verify fireproofing interfaces to steel (where applicable): surface readiness, adhesion tests, and compatibility with coatings. Assess and document site changes, RFIs, and as-built updates; support punch lists and handover documentation. Promote a proactive safety culture; stop and report unsafe conditions and ensure method statements and PTWs are followed.
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. Minimum 7–10 years of inspection experience on industrial, manufacturing, logistics, warehouse, or steel structure projects. Strong experience in structural steel fabrication and erection inspection. Experience in precast concrete installation and reinforced concrete foundation works. Experience in building envelope systems, cladding, roofing, and waterproofing inspections. Familiarity with QA/QC procedures, ITPs, NCR management, and material inspections
