Geriatric/ Old Age Psychiatry Consultant

Key Responsibilities Assess, diagnose, and manage mental health disorders in elderly patients. Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions. Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including cognitive and functional assessments. Manage patients with dementia, delirium, depression, anxiety disorders, psychosis, and other age-related psychiatric conditions. Provide consultation and support to multidisciplinary teams regarding the psychiatric care of older adults. Participate in family meetings and provide guidance to caregivers regarding treatment plans and ongoing care. Collaborate with geriatric medicine, neurology, internal medicine, rehabilitation, and community healthcare teams. Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and patient safety programs. Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and allied healthcare professionals where applicable. Contribute to clinical research, education, and professional development activities. Ensure compliance with DOH regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies. in Abu Dhabi. Existing DOH License as Consultant Psychiatrist is preferred.

Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized university. Completion of Residency in Psychiatry and Fellowship/Subspecialty Training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. Board Certification in Psychiatry/Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (e.g., MRCPsych, ABPN, CCT UK or equivalent). Valid DOH License or eligibility to obtain one under the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi Minimum of 3–5 years of experience post-specialization in a similar role. Proven expertise in trauma-informed care, developmental psychiatry, and psychopharmacology. Experience working in culturally diverse environments is highly desirable. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Fluent in English; Arabic language proficiency is a plus.

This role involves conducting comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, developing and implementing treatment plans, providing medication management, and offering therapeutic support. You will work collaboratively with psychologists, therapists, pediatricians, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to deliver integrated and holistic care.
