What We Are Looking For This is a hands-on senior procurement role and requires someone who can take complete ownership of the procurement workload. The successful candidate should be confident enough to deal directly with suppliers and subcontractors, negotiate effectively, make informed decisions, challenge delays and proactively resolve issues. The role is not limited to routine purchasing, quotation collection or vendor follow-up. We are looking for a strong procurement professional who understands construction, takes ownership, communicates confidently and gets things done. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of civil and structural materials, the UAE supplier and subcontractor market, and construction project requirements. The role requires someone who is confident in dealing with suppliers and subcontractors, has strong negotiation skills, and can proactively identify and resolve procurement challenges without continuous supervision. 1. Procurement Management • Handle daily procurement activities independently, from receiving material/Subcontract request and obtaining quotations to negotiation, purchase order placement, delivery follow-up, and closing procurement requirements. • Understand procurement priorities and manage multiple procurement requirements simultaneously. • Ensure timely procurement of materials in line with project schedules and requirements. 2. Vendor Management • Develop, manage, and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors. • Identify reliable vendors, evaluate their capabilities, and continuously explore alternative sources. • Follow up firmly with vendors to ensure timely delivery and resolve supply-related issues. 3. Project Coordination • Maintain continuous communication with project teams to understand their requirements and priorities. • Proactively identify procurement challenges, material shortages, and potential delays. • Coordinate with project teams and vendors to resolve issues and minimize the impact on project progress. • Take initiative and provide practical solutions instead of simply reporting problems. • Attend and manage weekly procurement meeting with project and planning teams to assure smooth progress to procurement and deliverables. 4. Personality and Communication Skills • Strong personality with confidence and the ability to take ownership and make decisions. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Strong negotiation and persuasion skills, particularly when dealing with suppliers and subcontractors. • Ability to handle pressure, manage difficult situations, and maintain professional relationships. • A proactive, responsible, and solution-oriented attitude. Technical and Professional Background • Civil Engineering degree. • Solid experience in procurement within the construction industry, covering civil and structural materials. • Good understanding of construction materials, specifications, technical submittals, and project procurement requirements. • Good knowledge in procurement terminology, concepts (RFQ, RFP) and commercial (contract types, incoterms) terms and conditions. • Ability to prepare for negotiation in advance with vendors. • Good knowledge of the UAE supplier and subcontractor market. Key Competencies • Strong ownership and accountability • Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Confident and assertive personality • Strong vendor and subcontractor management skills • Commercial awareness and cost-conscious approach • Strong coordination and stakeholder management • Problem-solving and decision-making ability • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple requirements • Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines • Proactive and solution-oriented approach • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
