Prototype Engineer

About the Role: We are looking for a hands-on Prototype Engineer to join our team in Dubai, UAE. The role involves planning, fabricating, assembling, inspecting, and testing prototypes using approved engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications. The ideal candidate will have practical experience in 3D printing, CNC machining, CAD drawings, and prototype fabrication. The engineer will also be responsible for maintaining prototyping equipment, coordinating external fabrication vendors, supporting manufacturing drawings, and ensuring accurate technical documentation. The role reports to the Design Engineer / Senior Design Engineer and may involve supervising Prototype Associates. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related field. • More than 2 years of relevant experience in prototyping, machining, fabrication, product development, or a similar hands-on engineering role. • Practical experience in CAD, engineering drawings, 3D printing, prototype assembly, and dimensional measurement. • Working knowledge of CNC/CAM, tooling, work holding, materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes. • Ability to execute prototype builds safely while maintaining accurate technical documentation and traceable records. • Strong organizational, communication, attention-to-detail, and problem-solving skills. Required Skills: • Prototyping & Fabrication: Hands-on experience in 3D printing, prototype fabrication, assembly, fitting, finishing, and post-processing. • CAD & Engineering Drawings: Ability to interpret and prepare part drawings, assembly drawings, manufacturing drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and revisions. • CNC/CAM Knowledge: Working knowledge of CNC machining, CAM processes, tooling, work holding, and machine setups. • Prototype Planning: Ability to interpret CAD models, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical specifications to plan and execute prototype builds. • Inspection & Quality Control: Experience using dimensional measurement tools, inspecting prototype components, and identifying manufacturing or assembly defects. • Equipment Maintenance: Ability to perform routine equipment inspections, calibration checks, preventive maintenance, and basic troubleshooting. • Technical Documentation: Experience maintaining build records, inspection reports, equipment logs, and technical documentation. • Problem-Solving & Coordination: Ability to troubleshoot fabrication issues, coordinate with engineering teams and vendors, and improve prototype quality and delivery.
