Engineering Manager - Digital Banking

About the Client Our client is a well-established, government-backed UAE bank with over 50 years in the market, offering retail, corporate, Islamic and treasury banking. The bank is going through a major digital and AI transformation, investing in modern platforms and new talent to reshape how it serves customers. The Role Sitting within the Digital Channels unit, this role leads the engineering delivery and continuous evolution of the bank's digital ecosystem across mobile, web, APIs and emerging channels. It combines hands-on technology leadership with end-to-end delivery ownership, turning the bank's transformation ambitions into measurable customer and business outcomes. Key Responsibilities • Lead and grow high-performing engineering teams and squads, developing technical leaders and building a strong engineering culture • Set the technical direction for the bank's digital channels across mobile, web and APIs • Stay close to architecture and design decisions so solutions are secure, scalable and differentiated • Turn the digital strategy into clear roadmaps and deliver them from investment planning through to adoption • Embed AI-driven engineering, intelligent automation and continuous delivery practices • Own delivery across scope, budgets, dependencies, risks, releases and production readiness • Select and manage technology partners and vendors on architecture alignment, quality and outcomes • Champion the digital agenda internally through showcases, roadshows and engagement forums • Embed security, privacy and regulatory compliance by design Candidate Profile • 10+ years building and scaling digital products and platforms in banking or fintech • Strong experience across digital onboarding, mobile and online banking, payments, cards, servicing journeys, APIs and digital identity • Solid grounding in microservices, distributed systems, cloud-native architecture and modern mobile/web engineering • Proven track record leading multidisciplinary engineering teams in Agile, product-led environments • Experience delivering large-scale transformation programmes through to production and adoption • Executive-level communication, with the ability to align business, technology, risk and operations stakeholders • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field; PMP or similar certification is a plus
