About the role

A-Level Tutor (Part-time) – Geography(CIE), Business(CIE) or Economics(Pearson Edexcel IAL) Remote · 1:1 with one student · Works alongside your current role · Start November 2026 Meet XLR8 At XLR8, we work privately with a small number of international-school families across Switzerland, UAE, and Malaysia. We're not an agency and we don't work on commission. Each student has one structured team (founder, subject tutors and a university advisor) working together toward one outcome. We primarily help students who are between Year 10-Year 13, under the international British Curriculum(IGCSE and A-Levels) The proof is in our results: • We recently took a student at St. George’s, Switzerland, from F to C in Maths, F to A* in English and C to A in Economics, within 60-90 days. • Gave more than 5 families the moment every parent hopes for: seeing their child want it for themselves. • Founded by someone who failed every subject in Year 10, then finished IGCSE with 8 A/A*s and a 60% scholarship to Charterhouse. We believe in structured work and owning the result. If that resonates, and you want to work with families who take education seriously, you’ll feel at home here. ––––– Role You’ll tutor one A-Level student 1:1 online in a single subject, as part of a small XLR8 team working with that student. It’s about 2 sessions a week – 60 to 75 mins each – 8 to 10 hours a month. Ideally you’ll stay with the student through their AS exams in May/June 2027. A tutor who knows a student well does more for them than a new one each term. Staying on through A2 in 2028 is welcome, but not required. We’re hiring three people in total, one for each subject below: • Geography: Cambridge International (CIE) A-Level, 9696 • Business: Cambridge International (CIE) A-Level, 9609 • Economics: Pearson Edexcel International A-Level (IAL), XEC11 / YEC11 You can apply for one subject only. If you teach more than one of these, pick the subject where your students have achieved your best results. We’ll ask you to show those results when you apply. If you apply for more than one subject, we’ll only consider your first application. You’ll need to teach the exact specification listed. If you know another board’s version of the subject, that’s not enough on its own. ––––– Essential Character Traits: • You care about where the student ends up, not just getting through the lesson. • You connect easily with teenagers. You understand the academic pressure they’re under and can see what’s really holding them back. • You communicate to clients with respect. • You work well in a founder-led team. ––––– Responsibilities • Teach focused one-to-one online lessons for the subject of your choice. • Communicate effectively with the rest of the team • Create basic lesson plans, carry out accurate marking, and assign targeted homework to the student ––––– Essential Requirements • At least 2 years’ experience teaching the exact A-Level syllabus you are applying for (for example, Pearson Edexcel IAL Economics if you are applying to teach Economics) • Proven online teaching: you have taught students online before and are comfortable with tools such as Zoom, Google Meet and Zoom Whiteboard • Proof of results: students’ grades before and after working with you (with names redacted) Plus at least one of the following • A teaching licence: the UAE Teacher Licence, the Saudi professional teaching licence (ETEC) or UK QTS • A teaching qualification: PGCE, iPGCE or a teaching degree • 3+ years of professional tutoring (your own centre or a tutoring company) with results you can show for the subject you want to teach. Desirable, but not essential • Experience with SEN students • Currently teaching at a British-curriculum school in the UAE or Saudi Arabia ––––– Results • The student’s grade goes up, and they understand the subject clearly. • They become a more organised, independent learner. • You help the student achieve top grades in a competitive Pre-Uni program • You start tutoring the student as soon as possible • You guide the student through an important academic journey. Schedule and Location • Online • Availability for weekday lessons in Swiss time (CET), afternoons and/or evenings • An average of 2 hours a week of tutoring. 8-10 hours a month ––––– Compensation USD 85-105 / AED 310-385 / SAR 320 - 395 per hour, paid monthly in advance. • At 8–10 hours a month, that’s roughly 700-1,110 a month, and more in the weeks before exams. • Results bonus: USD 1,500–5,000 per exam sitting, at both AS and A2, depending on the student’s grade (B, A or A*). • No long-term obligation. If you choose to stay with your student through to A2 (May/June 2028), you could earn up to USD 25,000 / AED 92k / SAR 95k in total including bonuses. ––––– Benefits • Results bonuses on top of your hourly rate (see Compensation) • Build your name teaching at the highest end of the international school market. • Work with the affluent market. XLR8 runs on a low volume, high-touch model. • No dealing with logistics, family drama, last minute cancellation, student not doing their homework, etc. We will take care of that for you. • A coordinated team: you work alongside the student's other subject tutors, with a direct line to the founder • Freedom to keep your own clients: you're an independent contractor, and we only ask that you don't approach XLR8 families directly • 1 Year Admin Software Subscription provided with unlimited class recordings, up to 2TB of online storage. • Referral fees when someone you recommend joins the team ––––– Next Steps • Complete the application form (about 5 minutes) using the link below. It asks about your subject expertise, teaching experience and availability. • Book a 15-minute introductory call with our team at a time that suits you. • Watch a short overview video (10 minutes). We’ll send it before your call. It covers how XLR8 works and what we expect from our mentors, so the call can focus on you. • After the call, we’ll review your application and get back to you with the outcome.
