Junior Site Engineer – Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Project — Power Plant Construction Location — UAE Disciplines — Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Minimum experience — 5 years of relevant site construction experience in the UAE Job Overview We are hiring Junior Site Engineers across the Mechanical, Electrical and Civil disciplines for a power plant construction project in the UAE. Reporting to the Senior Site Engineer, you will supervise day-to-day construction and installation work in your assigned discipline, coordinate subcontractors and site crews, and verify that work complies with approved drawings, project specifications, and quality and safety requirements. Key Responsibilities • Plan daily activities with site supervisors and subcontractors. Confirm that approved drawings, materials, permits, and work areas are ready before work begins. • Review construction drawings and method statements, check work against project requirements, and raise technical queries or report discrepancies. • Coordinate with civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation teams to resolve issues where their work overlaps and agree on the sequence of activities. • Arrange inspections with QA/QC, follow up on corrective actions and punch-list items, and maintain daily progress reports, inspection records, and as-built markups. • Monitor compliance with site HSE procedures and support testing, pre-commissioning, and handover as applicable to your discipline. Mechanical • Supervise installation of mechanical equipment, piping, valves, supports, and associated utility systems. • Verify equipment positioning, alignment, and piping installation against approved drawings and vendor instructions. Support pressure testing, flushing, and mechanical completion checks as applicable. Electrical • Supervise installation of cable trays, conduits, power and control cables, earthing systems, transformers, switchgear, and motor control centers. • Check cable routing, segregation, glanding, termination, and identification. Coordinate continuity, insulation resistance, and earthing tests as applicable. Civil • Supervise earthworks, excavation, backfilling, reinforced concrete works, equipment foundations, cable trenches, and drainage works. • Verify setting-out, levels, dimensions, reinforcement, formwork, anchor bolts, and embedded items against approved drawings before concrete pours. • Coordinate compaction tests, pre-pour inspections, and concrete sampling with survey and QA/QC teams. Confirm that foundations, trenches, and openings are ready for mechanical and electrical installation. Requirements Minimum Requirements • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering, relevant to the position applied for. • At least 5 years of relevant on-site construction experience in the UAE in the applicable discipline. • Hands-on experience supervising site works and coordinating crews or subcontractors. • Ability to interpret discipline-specific drawings, including piping isometrics and equipment layouts for Mechanical, single-line diagrams and cable schedules for Electrical, or grading, foundation, and structural drawings for Civil. Preferred Qualifications • Power plant construction experience. Experience on utility, industrial, or EPC construction projects is also desirable. • Relevant ADDC, DEWA, or TAQA certifications or approvals, where applicable to the discipline and scope of work.
