About the role

Job title: Senior QA Engineer – Manual Testing & Application Monitoring Job Location: Jeddah, Saudi Arabia 1. Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical QA Analyst to ensure the functional quality, technical stability and reliability of our digital eCommerce platforms. The role combines hands-on manual testing, API and integration testing, production application monitoring and technical incident investigation. The candidate will identify functional defects, monitor application errors using Sentry or equivalent observability tools, investigate customer-facing issues and coordinate with internal technology teams and external development vendors. This is not a purely functional manual testing position. 2. Key Responsibilities A. Functional & Manual Testing • Develop and execute functional, regression, integration and end-to-end test cases. • Validate web customer journeys including registration, quotation, checkout, payment and post-purchase transactions. • Perform browser compatibility, responsive design and mobile web testing. • Review requirements, UX designs and acceptance criteria for test coverage. • Document, prioritize and track defects; conduct smoke testing, UAT support and release validation. B. Application Observability, Monitoring & Production Quality • Operate application monitoring and observability platforms; investigate production issues across browser, application, API and infrastructure signals. • Monitor frontend/backend exceptions, failed transactions, API availability, latency, slow page loads, user-impacting errors and performance regressions. • Correlate stack traces, logs, browser console/network evidence, distributed traces, session replay, release changes and service health to investigate incidents. • Analyze recurring issues, severity, frequency and customer-journey impact. • Maintain monitoring dashboards, alerts, thresholds, incident classifications and escalation playbooks; coordinate with IT/vendors on instrumentation gaps. • Monitor release health and verify resolution of production issues. C. API & Integration Testing • Test REST APIs with Postman or equivalent tools, including payloads, authentication and error handling. • Investigate HTTP errors, timeouts and integration defects. • Validate integrations among the eCommerce platform, payment gateways, core systems and third-party services. D. Technical Quality & Incident Management • Serve as a technical quality contact between business, IT and development vendors. • Reproduce incidents, provide evidence-backed defect reports and verify fixes. • Track defect recurrence and release quality; prioritize issues by customer and business impact. E. Reporting & Continuous Improvement • Maintain QA execution, defect and application stability reports. • Track error rates, failed transactions, critical defects, incident recurrence and resolution time. • Recommend improvements in monitoring coverage, test processes and release quality. Monitoring & Diagnostic Tool Landscape (examples, not an exhaustive checklist) • Application error tracking & APM: Sentry, Datadog APM/RUM, New Relic, Dynatrace, Cisco AppDynamics, Elastic Observability, Azure Application Insights, AWS CloudWatch / X-Ray. • Logs, metrics & infrastructure observability: Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Elasticsearch / Kibana (ELK), Splunk, OpenSearch, CloudWatch Logs, Azure Monitor. • Real-user monitoring & session diagnostics: Datadog RUM, New Relic Browser, Dynatrace Digital Experience Monitoring, Sentry Session Replay, LogRocket, FullStory; browser DevTools. • Synthetic monitoring & availability: Checkly, Pingdom, UptimeRobot, Datadog Synthetic Monitoring, New Relic Synthetics, Grafana Synthetic Monitoring. • API, network & test diagnostics: Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, Chrome DevTools, Charles Proxy or Fiddler; Jira/Azure DevOps for incident and defect tracking. • Candidates need not know every listed product. Require demonstrated depth in at least one observability/APM platform, strong web/API debugging and the ability to learn the organization’s chosen stack. 3. Required Qualifications & Experience Mandatory Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or related discipline. • 4–6+ years in software QA with strong manual web application testing. • Practical API testing experience using Postman or equivalent. • Strong knowledge of HTTP, JSON, REST APIs and client-server architecture. • Proficiency in browser DevTools (Console and Network), JavaScript error investigation and API troubleshooting. • Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps or equivalent defect/test management tools. • Experience with complex transactional web applications and engineering/vendor collaboration. Highly Preferred • Hands-on production use of at least one application observability/APM platform (e.g., Sentry, Datadog, New Relic, Dynatrace, Elastic Observability, Grafana stack, AppDynamics, Azure Application Insights or AWS CloudWatch). • Production application support and customer-facing incident investigation. • Experience interpreting application logs, metrics, traces, exception stack traces, API latency, release health and user-impacting performance signals. • eCommerce, fintech, banking or insurance platform experience. Additional Advantages • Basic JavaScript or TypeScript; SQL; Playwright, Cypress or Selenium. • Familiarity with GA4, Hotjar, CI/CD and agile delivery; ISTQB certification. 4. Expected Deliverables Outputs • Functional, regression and end-to-end test cases and execution reports. • Defect register with reproducible steps and technical evidence. • Application monitoring dashboards, alert configurations and stability reports across the selected observability platform(s). • Incident investigation reports and API/integration testing results. • Release readiness, post-deployment validation and quality improvement recommendations. 5. Key Performance Indicators KPIs • Test coverage and execution completion; critical defects escaping into production. • Time to detect and escalate production issues; monitoring and alert coverage. • Defect investigation and validation turnaround; recurring defect rate. • Release validation effectiveness and incident documentation quality. 6. Ideal Candidate Profile • Technically strong QA professional experienced in complex web applications and live production environments. • Comfortable interpreting errors and logs, troubleshooting independently and coordinating engineering fixes. • Experience beyond executing predefined manual test cases is essential.
