About the role

Relocation Required Location: Sharjah, UAE Employment Type: Full-time Experience: 8–10+ years About the Role We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer – Utilities (Waste Water Treatment) with a strong background in mechanical design, equipment engineering, and fabrication for water treatment, wastewater treatment, and desalination projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in mechanical engineering calculations, pressure vessel and tank design, piping systems, equipment specifications, and fabrication drawings. The successful candidate must be capable of independently managing mechanical design deliverables and coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, vendors, and fabrication contractors. Key Responsibilities • Perform mechanical design and engineering for water and wastewater treatment plants and packaged systems. • Prepare and review General Arrangement Drawings (GADs), fabrication drawings, equipment layouts, and mechanical datasheets. • Design and review pressure vessels, atmospheric tanks, filters, skid-mounted equipment, and pump packages. • Perform mechanical calculations for vessels, tanks, supports, nozzles, pumps, and equipment foundations. • Develop and review piping layouts, piping isometrics, pipe supports, and material specifications. • Prepare mechanical equipment specifications, material take-offs (MTOs), and bills of materials (BOMs). • Review vendor drawings, technical submittals, material certificates, welding procedures, and fabrication documentation. • Coordinate with process, piping, civil, structural, electrical, and instrumentation engineering teams. • Support fabrication inspections, factory acceptance testing (FAT), hydrotesting, equipment installation, and commissioning. • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering codes, project specifications, and quality requirements. • Respond to client technical queries and review engineering comments. • Prepare and review as-built drawings and final mechanical documentation. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. • Minimum 8–10 years of relevant mechanical design and engineering experience. • Proven experience in water treatment, wastewater treatment, desalination, or industrial EPC projects. • Strong knowledge of pressure vessel design, storage tanks, piping systems, and mechanical equipment fabrication. • Working knowledge of ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3, API 650, AWWA, and relevant ASTM standards. • Experience with GRP/FRP tanks and piping systems is an advantage. • Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D engineering software such as Plant 3D, SolidWorks, or equivalent. • Good understanding of welding, non-destructive testing (NDT), hydrotesting, material selection, and corrosion protection. • Ability to independently perform engineering calculations and review fabrication drawings. • Strong technical documentation, communication, and coordination skills. Ideal Candidate Profile We are looking for a hands-on mechanical design engineer with proven experience in equipment design, engineering calculations, and fabrication coordination. Candidates whose experience is limited to maintenance, site supervision, or CAD drafting without mechanical design responsibility will not be a strong fit. Experience with an EPC contractor, water treatment equipment manufacturer, pressure vessel manufacturer, or industrial skid fabricator will be highly preferred.
