Head of Civil Engineering (Civil & Structural)

Job Description Our client is a leading global EPC major in power transmission and distribution, delivering projects across India, the Middle East, CIS and other markets. They are hiring a Head of Civil Engineering (Civil & Structural) in Riyadh to own engineering design for substation and power distribution projects. This is a hands-on technical leadership role. The incumbent will own civil and structural design delivery across multiple projects and geographies and lead a team of Project Engineering Managers, Lead Engineers, Design Engineers and Draughtspersons. They will also manage client-approved engineering sub-consultants and support tender engineering with competitive, risk-aware solutions. Delivery of base design, detailed engineering and drawings is to be aligned with the site construction sequence. The role supports Contracts on pre-bid queries and site teams on feasibility. It coordinates with electrical, MEP and instrumentation disciplines and with engineering heads in other geographies. It also drives standardisation, modularisation and automation, including AI, and builds strong relationships with client and owners-consultant decision makers. Reports to the Head of Engineering. Full time, regular, office-based in Riyadh with short deputations to project sites and overseas offices. Qualifications Qualifications • B.E./B.Tech in Civil or Structural Engineering; postgraduate degree in Structural or Geotechnical Engineering preferred • 20+ years of experience, with extensive civil and structural design of substations and industrial plants, indoor and outdoor • Proven experience on indoor GIS and outdoor substations up to 400 kV: steel and RCC structures, levelling and grading, geotechnical aspects • Command of BS EN, ASCE, Eurocodes and Indian codes • Working knowledge of precast design and installation and of construction methodologies • Proficiency in STAAD, ETABS, AutoCAD, Revit and Tekla • Prior Middle East or KSA experience and exposure to international client practices is a strong advantage • Track record of leading multicultural teams, managing outsourced design, and engaging clients at senior levels Why Is This a Great Opportunity A top-level engineering seat with a global EPC major whose projects span the Middle East, India and CIS.
