About the role
The Electrical Construction Engineer is responsible for supervising and coordinating day-to-day electrical construction activities to ensure all work is executed in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and client requirements. The role involves overseeing the installation of major substation equipment, including Power Transformers, GIS/AIS equipment, Circuit Breakers, Disconnectors, Earthing Switches, CTs, VTs/CVTs, Surge Arresters, Control and Protection Panels, and STATCOM systems where applicable. The engineer monitors equipment erection, alignment, cable laying, termination, gland installation, grounding systems, and lightning protection works, ensuring compliance with manufacturer recommendations and project standards. Responsibilities also include conducting inspections in line with approved Method Statements and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), coordinating with QA/QC teams and clients for inspections, closing punch points, and maintaining comprehensive quality records and installation checklists. The position supports pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, including testing of transformers, GIS/AIS equipment, protection relays, control systems, SCADA systems, and auxiliary systems while ensuring all prerequisites are completed prior to energization. The engineer is responsible for enforcing HSE requirements, conducting toolbox talks, monitoring Permit-to-Work (PTW) compliance, and ensuring the safe execution of high-voltage activities. Additionally, the role involves verifying materials received on site, monitoring material utilization, reporting shortages or damages, and coordinating with procurement and warehouse teams. Close coordination with Construction Managers, Planning Engineers, QA/QC Engineers, Commissioning Engineers, civil and mechanical teams, clients, consultants, and vendors is essential to resolve site issues and interface conflicts. The engineer maintains daily progress reports, installation records, punch lists, NCR logs, and supports the preparation of as-built documentation. Furthermore, the role includes monitoring project progress against approved schedules, identifying potential delays, supporting recovery plans, attending client and consultant meetings, and coordinating vendor supervision during installation and testing activities to ensure successful and timely project completion.
Requirements
Not explicitly separated in the posting; responsibilities imply experience in electrical construction supervision, HV installation, QA/QC coordination, commissioning support, HSE adherence, and coordination with multiple stakeholders. No distinct bulleted Requirements/Qualifications section found.
