Design Manager (Aluminum Manufacturing)

Job Summary The Design Manager will lead and manage the design function for aluminum manufacturing and façade projects, ensuring that all design deliverables meet project specifications, architectural requirements, engineering standards, and client expectations. The role involves overseeing design teams, coordinating with project management, production, procurement, and installation teams, and ensuring the timely delivery of accurate shop drawings, fabrication drawings, BIM models, and technical documentation. The ideal candidate must have strong experience in aluminum façade systems, curtain walls, glazing, architectural aluminum, and UAE/GCC construction projects. Key Responsibilities • Lead and manage the design team responsible for aluminum façade, curtain wall, glazing, doors, windows, and other architectural aluminum systems. • Review and approve design concepts, shop drawings, fabrication drawings, material specifications, and technical submissions. • Ensure all designs comply with project specifications, architectural and structural requirements, applicable building codes, and relevant industry standards. • Coordinate with project managers, consultants, architects, structural engineers, production teams, and site installation teams to resolve design-related issues. • Oversee the preparation and submission of shop drawings, material take-offs, cutting lists, fabrication details, and installation drawings. • Manage design reviews, technical coordination meetings, and drawing approval processes to ensure timely project execution. • Ensure design solutions are practical, cost-effective, manufacturable, and suitable for installation. • Review façade systems, aluminum profiles, glazing details, hardware, brackets, anchors, and related components for technical accuracy. • Monitor design schedules, workload allocation, team performance, and deliverable deadlines. • Provide technical guidance and support to designers, BIM modelers, draftsmen, and design engineers. • Coordinate with procurement and production teams to ensure design specifications align with material availability, manufacturing capabilities, and project requirements. • Identify design clashes, technical discrepancies, and potential construction issues, and implement appropriate corrective measures. • Manage design changes, revisions, and documentation in accordance with project requirements and quality procedures. • Support tendering and estimation teams with technical clarifications, design reviews, and feasibility assessments. • Ensure compliance with quality standards, health and safety requirements, and company procedures. • Drive continuous improvement in design processes, drawing accuracy, team productivity, and digital design workflows. Qualifications and Experience • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline. • Minimum 10–15 years of relevant experience in aluminum façade, architectural aluminum, curtain wall, glazing, or façade manufacturing. • At least 5 years of experience in a design leadership or management position is preferred. • UAE/GCC experience in aluminum manufacturing and façade projects is mandatory. • Strong knowledge of aluminum façade systems, curtain walls, structural glazing, aluminum doors and windows, and related building envelope systems. • Proven experience managing design teams and delivering complex façade or architectural aluminum projects. • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM tools, and relevant façade design software. • Knowledge of fabrication drawings, material take-offs, shop drawings, and installation details. • Familiarity with UAE building regulations, international façade standards, and project-specific technical specifications.
