Lead Design Engineer (Wastewater Treatment)

Almasa Environmental Solutions is looking for a Lead Design Engineer to take charge of process design on our sewage treatment projects in the UAE. The work ranges from containerized MBBR and MBR package plants to large domestic STPs of 10,000 m³/day and above, designed to UAE and GCC standards. • At least 5 years of professional wastewater design experience in the UAE or GCC countries • Proven full design experience on large domestic sewage treatment projects of 10,000 m³/day or more • Extensive experience designing integrated containerized STPs and packaged wastewater treatment systems Technical capabilities • Full command of standard domestic sewage treatment processes: pre-treatment, biological treatment, MBBR, MBR, sedimentation, filtration, disinfection, and sludge return and recirculation systems • Able to independently calculate the hydraulic profile, tank volumes, HRT, sludge loading, aeration rate, recirculation rate and pump selection for every process stage • Skilled in designing customized containerized wastewater treatment systems, both small and large UAE and GCC standards • Full knowledge of UAE and GCC sewage inlet parameters, final discharge standards and irrigation reuse standards • Familiar with local municipal approval rules, discharge regulations and water reuse codes in the Gulf • Able to prepare fully compliant technical proposals, design drawings and calculation reports for local authority submission Responsibilities • Lead process design, hydraulic calculations, load analysis and equipment selection for all our sewage treatment projects • Design the full layout and process flow of containerized MBBR and MBR plants, including container volumes and process arrangement • Work with clients, main contractors and consultants, and deliver complete technical proposals and approval documents to Middle East standards • Prepare tender documents, technical proposals, design drawings and approval packages for clients and local authorities • Lead the design team and own the design quality and compliance of every project with UAE and GCC environmental standards Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Water and Wastewater Engineering, or a related field • Proficient in AutoCAD, process flow diagrams and hydraulic calculations • Familiar with Middle East wastewater project bidding, design and authority approval procedures • Available for long term on site work in the UAE Show more Show less
