Backup Engineer (L2/L3)

About the Role Specialized Enterprise Systems (SES) is hiring a Backup Engineer (L2/L3) at a client site in Saudi Arabia. The role is responsible for the administration, monitoring, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise backup and recovery infrastructure within a data center environment. The role ensures the successful protection, retention, recovery, and availability of critical business data while providing advanced technical support, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery capabilities. Key Responsibilities • Administer, monitor, and maintain enterprise backup and recovery platforms to ensure successful and reliable data protection operations • Perform L2/L3 troubleshooting and root cause analysis for backup failures, restore issues, performance bottlenecks, and infrastructure-related incidents • Configure and manage backup policies, schedules, retention periods, replication, and archive processes in accordance with business and compliance requirements • Execute and validate backup, restore, and recovery operations for physical servers, virtual machines, databases, applications, and file systems • Monitor daily backup jobs, investigate exceptions, and ensure compliance with backup success rate and SLA targets • Implement and support disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity solutions, including backup replication and recovery testing • Perform regular backup recovery drills and restore validation tests to ensure data recoverability and operational readiness Requirements • 5+ years of experience in enterprise backup and recovery • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field • Willing to relocate to the client site in Saudi Arabia within 2 months • Standard shifts with 24x7 on-call rotation Skills and Technologies • Veritas NetBackup • Commvault • Veeam Backup & Replication • Dell EMC NetWorker • IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM) • Rubrik, Cohesity • Dell Data Domain • Oracle RMAN • Microsoft SQL Server Backup • VMware vSphere, Hyper-V • Tape Libraries, Cloud Backup Solutions (Azure, AWS) Preferred Certifications Veritas, Commvault, Veeam, Dell EMC, Microsoft Show more Show less
