Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Location: Muscat, Oman Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Salary : 23K USD per month +Bonus An Exceptional Leadership Opportunity We are conducting a confidential search for an accomplished Chief Investment Officer (CIO) on behalf of a newly established institutional investment platform based in Muscat, Oman. The organisation is evolving from a successful private family office into a regulated asset management business with approximately USD 500 million in assets under management, with ambitious growth plans to exceed USD 1 billion over the coming years. This is a unique opportunity for a highly experienced investment executive to build an institutional-quality investment platform from the ground up and become a founding member of the executive leadership team. The Opportunity The CIO will lead the development of the firm's investment philosophy, strategic asset allocation, governance framework, portfolio construction, and investment processes across both public and private markets. Working closely with the CEO and Finance Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for creating a world-class investment organisation focused on delivering sustainable, long-term, risk-adjusted returns while maintaining the highest standards of governance, discipline, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Investment Strategy • Develop and implement the firm's long-term investment philosophy and strategic asset allocation framework. • Construct diversified multi-asset portfolios across public and private markets. • Identify global investment opportunities across multiple asset classes. • Monitor macroeconomic trends and recommend tactical and strategic portfolio adjustments. • Drive long-term portfolio performance while managing investment risk. Public Markets • Lead investments across listed equities, fixed income, and other liquid asset classes. • Oversee portfolio construction, research, and performance monitoring. • Manage relationships with external investment managers and advisors. Private Markets • Source, evaluate, and execute private equity, direct investments, and co-investment opportunities. • Lead due diligence, valuation, financial modelling, and transaction structuring. • Monitor portfolio companies and support value creation initiatives. Investment Governance • Establish institutional investment policies, governance frameworks, and decision-making processes. • Chair and contribute to Investment Committee meetings. • Present investment recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders. • Ensure all investment decisions are supported by rigorous research and financial analysis. Leadership • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing investment team. • Foster a collaborative, performance-driven investment culture. • Establish best-in-class research standards and investment discipline. Stakeholder Management • Partner closely with the CEO on strategic investment initiatives. • Work alongside the Finance Director on capital allocation and governance. • Build strong relationships with banks, private equity firms, fund managers, institutional investors, brokers, and strategic partners. Candidate Profile Experience • Minimum 15 years' experience within a family office, sovereign wealth fund, institutional asset manager, pension fund, private equity firm, or investment management business. • Proven experience managing multi-asset investment portfolios across public and private markets. • Demonstrated success in building or transforming institutional investment platforms. • Strong Investment Committee and board-level experience. • International investment experience across multiple geographies is highly desirable.
