This pivotal role demands exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, risk mitigation, project controls, and technical expertise in mechanical engineering. You will be responsible for achieving project objectives safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the highest quality standards. The successful candidate will have extensive experience managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering projects involving mechanical equipment, piping systems, pressure vessels, storage tanks, rotating equipment, static equipment, mechanical packages, fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning. What You’ll Do: Strategic Project Leadership: Oversee the end-to-end planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure of large-scale Oil & Gas construction, upgrade, brownfield, shutdown, and turnaround projects. Mechanical Project Management: Lead the delivery of mechanical works, including static and rotating equipment, pressure vessels, tanks, piping systems, mechanical packages, fabrication, installation, testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and handover. Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary contact for clients, consultants, vendors, contractors, subcontractors, and senior management, ensuring clear communication, coordination, and alignment. Risk & Change Management: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate technical, commercial, schedule, safety, and operational risks while managing project changes effectively. Budget & Schedule Control: Develop and manage project budgets, cost forecasts, schedules, and progress reporting to ensure financial and timeline adherence. Team Leadership: Lead, manage, and mentor multidisciplinary project teams, including engineering, procurement, construction, mechanical, piping, QA/QC, HSE, commissioning, and project controls personnel. Contract Management: Administer complex EPC, EPCM, construction, subcontract, and vendor agreements, ensuring contractual compliance and effective management of variations, claims, and deliverables. Engineering & Construction Coordination: Coordinate engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities. Quality & Safety Assurance: Uphold the highest quality, health, safety, and environmental standards. Promote a zero-incident culture and ensure compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements. Project Reporting: Lead project review meetings and provide regular reports covering progress, cost, schedule, risks, resources, quality, safety, procurement, and commercial performance. What We’re Looking For: Extensive Experience: Minimum 10+ years of progressive project management experience, including the delivery of large-scale Oil & Gas, petrochemical, refinery, gas processing, pipeline, or energy projects. Mechanical Engineering Background: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is required. A professional engineering qualification or relevant postgraduate qualification will be an advantage. Industry Expertise: Strong understanding of Oil & Gas project requirements, mechanical systems, industrial plant construction, fabrication, installation, commissioning, shutdowns, turnarounds, brownfield modifications, and operating-plant environments. Project Delivery Experience: Proven experience managing projects from FEED or detailed engineering through procurement, construction, commissioning, start-up, and final handover. Technical Acumen: Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems, including: • Static and rotating equipment • Pressure vessels and storage tanks • Piping systems and mechanical packages • Pumps, compressors, turbines, and heat exchangers • Fabrication and installation activities • Hydro testing, pressure testing, inspection, and commissioning • Brownfield modifications, tie-ins, shutdowns, and turnarounds Project Controls: Strong understanding of project planning, cost control, forecasting, earned value, progress measurement, and reporting using Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent systems. Management Credentials: PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or equivalent project management certification is highly preferred. Contractual Awareness: Solid understanding of FIDIC or similar EPC and industrial contract forms, including variations, claims, change orders, and subcontractor management. Codes and Standards: Working knowledge of applicable Oil & Gas codes and standards, including API, ASME, AWS, and relevant local regulations. Leadership & Communication: Exceptional leadership, negotiation, problem-solving, decision-making, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
