Role Description The Sous Chef – Emirati Cuisine is a full-time, on-site role based in Abu Dhabi, responsible for supporting the Head Chef in leading kitchen operations focused on authentic Emirati dishes. This role oversees food preparation, cooking, and plating, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and portioning in line with UNF Group’s quality standards. The Sous Chef manages daily kitchen activities, including supervising staff, organizing workstations, and monitoring food safety and hygiene practices. Responsibilities include contributing to menu development, maintaining inventory and ordering supplies, and coordinating with front-of-house teams to deliver smooth service. The role also involves training and mentoring kitchen team members, promoting a culture of collaboration, efficiency, and respect. Qualifications • Strong experience in professional kitchens, with a focus on Emirati cuisine and regional flavors, including preparation techniques and traditional recipes. • Skills in kitchen operations, such as staff supervision, shift planning, workflow coordination, and maintaining high food safety and hygiene standards. • Proficiency in food preparation and cooking techniques, including knife skills, portion control, plating, and quality control under time pressure. • Ability to manage inventory, support purchasing decisions, control food costs, and reduce waste while meeting operational targets. • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to train, motivate, and guide a diverse kitchen team in a fast-paced environment. • Commitment to guest satisfaction, with attention to detail, creativity in menu suggestions, and alignment with UNF Group’s warm and passionate service culture. • Relevant culinary education or certification is preferred; previous experience in hotel, restaurant, or catering environments in the UAE is an advantage. • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed, and ability to stand for extended periods and handle the physical demands of a commercial kitchen.
