Job Description — Sales Manager (Provisions & Technical) Company: Gadget Link Shipchandlers L.L.C. Location: Dubai, UAE Industry: Ship Chandling / Marine Supplies Position: Sales Manager – Provisions & Technical Reports to: General Manager / Managing Director Employment Type: Full-time Job Purpose The Sales Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining business with ship owners, ship managers, vessel operators, fleet managers, purchasing departments, ship agencies, and captains/crew, and generating sales for vessel provisions, bonded stores, deck/engine technical supplies, spare parts, safety equipment and other marine requirements. The candidate must be commercially aggressive, customer-focused and capable of generating new vessel accounts while maintaining strong relationships with existing customers. Key Responsibilities 1. Business Development • Identify and approach new ship owners, ship management companies, operators and ship agencies. • Develop new vessel and fleet accounts in the UAE and international markets. • Generate leads through calls, emails, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, networking and industry contacts. • Visit shipping companies and agencies to introduce company services. • Follow up continuously with prospects until business is secured. • Develop long-term relationships with purchasing managers, fleet managers, superintendents, captains and chief engineers. 2. Provisions Sales • Promote and sell: • Fresh and frozen food • Dry provisions • Meat, seafood, fruits and vegetables • Dairy products • Beverages • Galley and cabin consumables • Bonded stores • Cabin stores • Crew welfare items • Understand vessel-specific requirements and prepare competitive quotations. 3. Technical / Marine Supplies Sales Develop sales for: • Deck stores • Engine stores • Electrical items • PPE and safety equipment • Marine chemicals • Ropes and mooring equipment • Tools and hardware • Welding consumables • Paints and maintenance materials • Pumps, valves, pipes and fittings • Filters, gaskets, bearings and other consumables • Navigation and communication equipment • Engine and machinery spare parts • Urgent/emergency vessel requirements 4. Quotation & Negotiation • Receive RFQs and vessel requirements. • Coordinate with purchasing and suppliers to obtain competitive prices. • Prepare and submit quotations quickly. • Negotiate prices and commercial terms with customers. • Maintain required profit margins. • Follow up quotations and convert them into confirmed orders. 5. Vessel & Port Coordination • Coordinate with operations regarding vessel ETA/ETD and delivery requirements. • Ensure supplies are delivered on time to vessels at Jebel Ali, Fujairah Anchorage, Khor Fakkan and other UAE ports/anchorages. • Handle urgent and last-minute vessel requirements. • Coordinate with port agents, vessel crew, drivers and operations teams when necessary. 6. Customer Relationship Management • Maintain regular communication with existing customers. • Understand customer purchasing patterns and upcoming vessel requirements. • Encourage repeat orders and fleet-wide supply contracts. • Resolve customer complaints professionally and quickly. • Maintain a database of customers, vessels, quotations and sales opportunities. 7. Market Development • Monitor competitor pricing and market conditions. • Identify new shipping companies entering UAE ports. • Develop business from foreign ship-management companies and international clients. • Build a strong network within the marine and shipping industry. Sales Targets & KPIs The Sales Manager will be responsible for measurable targets such as: • Monthly sales revenue • Gross profit / gross margin • Number of new customers acquired • Number of new vessels supplied • Number of new shipping companies onboarded • RFQ-to-order conversion rate • Repeat customer sales • Fleet account development • Outstanding quotation follow-up • Customer retention Candidate Requirements Essential: • 3–5+ years of sales experience in ship chandling, marine supplies, ship stores, provisions or technical marine supplies. • Strong knowledge of UAE ports and shipping industry. • Existing contacts with ship owners, ship managers, ship agencies or vessel operators will be a major advantage. • Good knowledge of marine provisions and/or technical supplies. • Excellent negotiation and communication skills. • Ability to work under pressure and handle urgent vessel requirements. • Good English communication skills. • UAE driving licence preferred.
