Senior Portfolio & Delivery Manager

Role Purpose AXIAN Telecom is a leading pan-African telecommunications group serving more than 40 million customers across Africa through its Yas mobile brands, Mixx by Yas fintech services, and digital infrastructure portfolio. The Group is accelerating its digital transformation through major commercial, product and technology initiatives across its operating companies. The Senior Portfolio & Delivery Manager drives the execution of AXIAN Telecom's Group Commercial strategy across multiple operating companies, ensuring strategic initiatives are properly defined, prioritised and successfully delivered to achieve measurable business outcomes. The role operates at the intersection of Strategy, Business and Product / Technology, translating ambition into structured, high-impact transformation programs and enabling the Group to deliver predictably across markets. Key Responsibilities 1.Strategy Execution & Business Transformation • Drive execution of the Group Commercial strategy through high-impact transformation initiatives • Challenge initiative scope, prioritisation and expected business value • Support Business Lines in identifying initiatives that maximise commercial performance • Ensure initiatives remain aligned with Group strategic objectives 2.Digital & Product Transformation • Partner with Product Managers to execute the Group product roadmap • Support digital transformation initiatives across mobile apps, digital channels, CRM and commercial platforms • Bridge Business, Product and Technology teams • Support business case preparation and value realisation 3.Portfolio & Program Delivery • Manage a portfolio of strategic commercial initiatives • Lead cross-functional transformation programs from initiation to deployment • Coordinate Business, Product, Technology and vendors • Manage risks, dependencies, milestones and executive reporting 4.Delivery Excellence • Improve delivery methodologies and portfolio governance • Prepare Steering Committee materials and executive dashboards • Promote execution excellence and continuous improvement Experience & Qualification Required • Minimum 12 years of professional experience • Strong experience in Program, Portfolio or Transformation Management • Experience in Marketing, Product Management, Digital, Customer Experience or other commercial functions • Strong exposure to digital products, software delivery and IT-enabled business transformation • Experience leading multi-country transformation programs • Strong commercial acumen and excellent understanding of Product Management principles • Program & Portfolio Management expertise, with critical thinking and a strategic mindset • Stakeholder management and executive communication skills • Understanding of Agile delivery and the software development lifecycle • Ability to bridge Business, Product and Technology, with a results-oriented execution mindset • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems • English: Mandatory (full professional proficiency) Preferred • Telecommunications experience highly preferred • PMP and/or PRINCE2 Practitioner certification • Agile/Scrum certification • MBA • French language capability What Success Looks Like The successful Senior Portfolio & Delivery Manager will: • Accelerate execution of the Group Commercial strategy • Deliver measurable business outcomes • Improve portfolio prioritisation and delivery predictability • Strengthen collaboration between Business, Product and Technology • Support successful multi-country transformation programs Operating Principles The Senior Portfolio & Delivery Manager is expected to operate with: • Strong ownership mentality • Strategic and commercial mindset • Structured executive communication • Collaborative problem solving • Data-driven decision making • Delivery discipline and rigour • Transparency and accountability • Continuous improvement mindset Show more Show less
