Purpose and Scope of Position The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing Accounts Receivable operations, supporting membership accounting processes, ensuring accurate financial records, managing reconciliations, supervising team members, and assisting the Financial Controller in maintaining effective financial controls and reporting. Main Duties (Job Related Duties) • Assist and guide Accounts Receivable and Membership team members. • Monitor customer ageing reports and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding balances. • Reconcile SAP and customer ledger accounts. • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement operational enhancements. • Train new and existing team members. • Coordinate with SAP consultants regarding system developments and enhancements. • Liaise with customers and internal departments to resolve accounting-related matters. • Ensure deadlines are met and tasks are completed accurately and on time. • Verify that accounting transactions are correctly recorded. • Investigate and resolve operational queries and disputes. • Liaise with auditors as required. • Ensure customer master data is accurately maintained in SAP. • Maintain checklists and monitor completion of assigned tasks by subordinates. • Ensure adequate staffing and resource allocation within the Accounts Receivable and Membership team. Job Responsibilities A. Debtors • Review and verify sales ledger charges and allocations. • Review Sales Ledger Control Account reconciliations with SAP General Ledger accounts. • Review new member invoices and refund vouchers for resigned members. • Coordinate with debt collection agencies regarding outstanding balances and debt recovery activities. • Review commission claims related to recovered debts. • Monitor aged receivables and ensure appropriate escalation and approval processes are followed. • Ensure timely follow-up on overdue customer accounts. B. Sales Commission • Review and validate commission claims. • Prepare commission payment requests and coordinate with relevant departments for processing. C. General Ledger & Balance Sheet • Prepare monthly Accounts Receivable journal entries. • Reconcile General Ledger accounts and prepare supporting schedules. • Assist with month-end closing activities and reporting requirements. D. Petty Cash • Review and validate petty cash claims. • Process petty cash reimbursements and maintain supporting documentation. • Prepare summaries for review and replenishment purposes. E. General • Assist with year-end audit preparation. • Prepare reports, schedules, and supporting documents requested by auditors. • Perform additional duties assigned by the Financial Controller. • Respond to accounting and operational queries and provide solutions when required.
