Purpose The position is responsible for developing, modifying, testing, and maintaining industrial automation software using Siemens technologies. The role is primarily focused on software development and remote engineering support using Siemens TIA Portal V21, Siemens S7 PLCs and WinCC SCADA/HMI platforms. This position does not include electrical design, panel design or site installation responsibilities. Work Overview • Develop PLC application software using Siemens TIA Portal V21. • Develop and maintain Siemens S7-1200 and S7-1500 PLC programs. • Develop, configure and modify WinCC HMI/SCADA applications. • Review Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Sequence of Operations (SOO), Cause & Effect matrices and I/O schedules before development. • Develop modular, reusable and well-documented PLC software. • Perform offline software testing using PLCSIM where applicable. • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) remotely. • Provide remote software support during commissioning and troubleshooting. • Maintain software version control, backups and revision history. • Prepare software documentation, testing records and change logs. • Collaborate with project managers, controls engineers and commissioning teams. • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control panel drawings, wiring diagrams, P&IDs and I/O schedules. • Sound understanding of industrial electrical control systems, including AC/DC circuits, relays, contactors, motor starters (DOL/reversing), analogue/digital I/O, protection devices, residual current protection (RCD/RCCB), and fail-safe control principles. • Working knowledge of electrical fault-finding, circuit theory, and industrial troubleshooting techniques to support PLC software development, testing and commissioning.
