Senior Civil Resident Engineer (Consultancy) – HV Substations Abu Dhabi, UAE | 🏢 Full-Time | On-Site We are partnering with a leading international engineering consultancy to recruit a Senior Civil Resident Engineer for a landmark energy infrastructure project in Abu Dhabi. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the supervision and delivery of complex transmission and substation projects while working on the owner's/consultant's side. The Role As the Senior Civil Resident Engineer, you will act as the Consultant's on-site representative, ensuring that all civil construction activities are executed in accordance with the approved design, contract requirements, international standards, and project schedule. Key Responsibilities • Supervise all civil works related to HV substations, cable trenches, duct banks, foundations, roads, drainage, and associated infrastructure. • Ensure construction activities comply with approved drawings, technical specifications, contract requirements, and international engineering standards. • Monitor contractor performance, workmanship, quality, safety, and progress throughout project execution. • Review and approve method statements, material submittals, inspection requests (IRs), RFIs, and other construction documentation. • Coordinate closely with electrical, mechanical, geotechnical, and commissioning teams to ensure seamless project delivery. • Identify technical issues, propose engineering solutions, and support timely decision-making on site. • Attend site inspections, progress meetings, and coordination meetings with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders. • Prepare progress reports and provide recommendations to the Project Manager regarding construction status, risks, and mitigation measures. • Ensure full compliance with HSE policies and quality assurance procedures. Requirements • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. • 10+ years of experience in engineering consultancy, construction supervision, or owner's engineer roles. • Proven experience supervising HV Substation Civil Works (132kV, 220kV, 400kV or above) and transmission infrastructure projects. • Previous experience working for an engineering consultancy on EPC or utility projects is highly preferred. • Strong understanding of FIDIC contracts, construction supervision, QA/QC processes, and international standards (IEC, Eurocodes, etc.). • Experience reviewing contractor submissions, inspections, and technical documentation. • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. • Fluent English is essential. Arabic is an advantage.
