About the Role: As Senior Accountant your role is to support the company by ensuring that all financial records and reporting are up to standard, updated and maintained regularly and in some cases, you will be responsible to work with third parties, like banks or auditors. Daily Financial Record Keeping: • Maintain accurate and up-to-date daily financial records, including receipts, payments, accounting entries, and general bookkeeping. Accounts Receivable and Payable Management: • Monitor and manage outstanding accounts receivable and payable. • Assist in resolving any discrepancies and ensure timely collections and payments. Financial Reporting: • Prepare and maintain essential financial reports, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. • Maintain a fixed asset register to track construction equipment and other assets. • Manage petty cash and reconcile it regularly. • Perform bank reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial transactions. • Reconcile intercompany accounts to track transactions between related entities. Periodic Financial Statements: • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements that accurately represent the company's financial health. • Ensure that financial statements comply with accounting standards and accurately reflect the company's financial position. Financial Analysis: • Provide financial information and insights to management by analysing accounting data. • Assist in making informed decisions by interpreting the company’s financial metrics and market trends to monitor and assess the company's performance, as needed or upon request. Construction Accounting Specific Responsibilities: • Collaborate with project managers and commercial managers to develop detailed, cost-effective project budgets. • Continuously monitor project finances, preparing invoices, estimating cash flow, and managing purchase orders. • Analyse all financial transactions and incorporate unforeseen costs into the budget. • Maintain and track all construction project costs, ensuring accuracy and compliance. • Review subcontractors' invoices for accuracy and completeness and approve payment requests. • Process invoices, requisitions, and local purchase orders. Tax and Legal Compliance: • Prepare and file tax reports related to construction projects. • Prepare and file tax returns in compliance with UAE regulations. • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and deadlines. • Ensure timely tax payments to prevent any penalties or interest charges. • Audit all accounts against contractual terms, budgets, and time schedules. Supplier and Subcontractor Relations: • Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to facilitate cost-effective payment plans for their services. Additional Responsibilities: • Contribute to the development of new accounting and operational procedures to support a rapidly growing entity and evolving business structure. • Support and maintain relationships with key partners, including banks and companies, to support and expand the business. • Prepare specialist reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing information and trends. Requirements and Skills: • Bachelor's degree in accounting, or finance. • Accounting qualification desirable such as ACA, CIMA or ACCA • Minimum of 5 years of experience in private or public accounting. • Strong familiarity with the construction industry. • Strong knowledge of construction accounting, including cost controls, job costing, and profit and loss accounting. • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (desirable). • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills. • Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced construction environment.
