Director – Procurement & Contracts Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Director – Procurement & Contracts to lead the organization's contracts and procurement function. The role is responsible for developing commercial strategies, overseeing the complete contract lifecycle, driving procurement excellence, managing supplier relationships, mitigating contractual risks, and ensuring cost-effective project delivery within the real estate/construction sector. Key Responsibilities Strategic Contracts & Commercial Management • Develop and implement the overall contracts and procurement strategy. • Establish standardized contract frameworks, governance, and risk management processes. • Ensure compliance with applicable construction regulations and industry standards, including FIDIC contracts. Procurement & Supplier Management • Lead the end-to-end procurement process, including demand planning, tendering, supplier evaluation, and contract award. • Drive strategic sourcing, value engineering, cost optimization, and total cost of ownership initiatives. • Build and manage strategic relationships with contractors, consultants, and key suppliers. • Develop and maintain an approved vendor management program. Contract Administration • Oversee contract execution, variation orders, claims management, dispute resolution, and final account settlements. • Implement effective contract administration and digital contract management systems. • Monitor contractual obligations, compliance, and project milestones. Commercial Risk & Governance • Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks. • Maintain contract risk registers and implement early warning mechanisms. • Lead negotiations and manage complex contractual disputes in coordination with legal advisors. Leadership • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing Procurement & Contracts team. • Establish KPIs focused on procurement efficiency, cost savings, contract compliance, supplier performance, and project delivery. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Law, Business Administration, or a related field. • Master's degree is preferred. • Professional certifications such as CIPS, RICS, or PMP are an advantage. Experience: • 25+ years of experience in Procurement & Contracts within real estate, construction, or infrastructure. • Minimum 10 years in a senior leadership role managing large-scale commercial contracts and procurement. • Proven expertise in negotiating high-value contracts and managing commercial risk. Key Skills: • Strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts, contract law, and procurement best practices. • Expertise in commercial negotiations, strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and contract administration. • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and decision-making skills. • Strong analytical, commercial, risk management, and problem-solving abilities. • Results-driven with a focus on cost optimization, compliance, and successful project delivery.
