We are one of the world’s largest producers of hydrocarbon energy and chemicals, with among the lowest Upstream carbon intensities of any major producer. With our significant investment in technology and infrastructure, we strive to maximize the value of the energy we produce for the world along with a commitment to enhance Aramco’s value to society. Headquartered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and with offices around the world, we combine market discipline with a generations’ spanning view of the future, born of our nine decades experience as responsible stewards of the Kingdom’s vast hydrocarbon resources. This responsibility has driven us to deliver significant societal and economic benefits to not just the Kingdom, but also to a vast number of communities, economies, and countries that rely on the vital and reliable energy that we supply. We are one of the most profitable companies in the world, as well as amongst the top five global companies by market capitalization. Overviwe We are seeking a Reservoir Geologist with expertise in characterizing and advancing unconventional appraisal programs to full field development projects to join the Eastern Unconventional Characterization Division (EUCD) within the UR Exploration & Characterization Department. EUCD is responsible for exploring unconventional targets in the kingdom, including shale targets, tight clastic, and tight carbonate formations, as well as characterizing existing unconventional resources to validate their viability and de-risk their development program. Additionally, the department provides support to other entities within UR organization to address any subsurface challenges that may arise during various operational stages, ultimately facilitating informed decision-making and optimized resource development. The Reservoir Geologist's primary role is to integrate and interpret geological data to inform reservoir characterization and development, and predict reservoir properties. Key Responsibilities As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following: Integrate and interpret geological, geophysical, and petrophysical data to establish accurate reservoir properties and predict hydrocarbon volumes. Conduct detailed geological studies integrating all available data to optimize well placement and reservoir development. Use geological models and data to conduct and document reservoir characterization work-flows via generating cross sections from well logs, maps, cores, cross plots, histograms, summary tables, and written reports for different stratigraphic intervals to recommend optimal well placement. Evaluate current practices and identify opportunities for innovative improvements using data science applications to predict reservoir quality. Actively participate in the well planning process to optimize well locations using a variety of geological and geophysical data. Monitoring and tracking wells, performing well evaluations during and post frac jobs, generating and/or updating maps for structural, stratigraphic, fluid limits in light of new drilling and flowback information. Provide geological input into generation of appraisal and development plans for resource assessment and development optimization. Work closely with drilling, production and reservoir engineering teams and champion operational activities from planning to execution. Effectively communicate through presentations to technical peers and management teams to enhance in-house knowledge. Provide support, recommendations and advise in the area of expertise. Mentor and develop newly hired and young professionals. Minimum Requirements As the successful candidate you will have: the following: A Bachelor’s degree in geology or geophysics. An advanced degree is preferred and will reduce prerequisite work experience stated below by one year for a Master’s degree and two years for Ph.D. 10 years or more of experience and active technical roles, with at least 5 years in shale unconventional plays, we will consider candidates with more or less experience, depending on the quality of their experience. Experience in integrating and interpreting geological, geophysical, and petrophysical data to inform reservoir characterization and development. Working knowledge in the integration of sedimentology, depositional environments, petrophysics, geophysics, geochemistry, geomechanics and well placement. Experience working with the production and drilling teams on well performance and optimization. Previous experience working with reservoir engineers and reserve auditors to determine reserve and resource estimations is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in geosciences, geophysics, or a related engineering discipline. An advanced degree is preferred. 10 years or more of experience in petrophysical industrial and active technical roles, with at least 5 years in reservoir characterization. Experience in building, maintaining, and evaluating large and complex petrophysical models utilizing industry software e.g. Techlog, Petrel, Geolog, and other relevant software. Working knowledge in the integration of well logs, cores, and laboratory measurements to predict reservoir properties and optimize hydrocarbon recovery. Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team in an operational environment that requires proactive approaches to predicting and solving petrophysical issues affecting reservoir characterization, well placement, and production. Peer-reviewed published work will be an added value.
Lead and build petrophysical models from multidisciplinary data to establish accurate reservoir properties and predict hydrocarbon volumes. Conduct detailed petrophysical studies integrating all available data to optimize well placement, completion, and production designs. Use and maintain petrophysical models to document reservoir characterization workflows via cross sections, maps, cores, cross plots, histograms, summary tables, and written reports for different stratigraphic intervals to recommend optimal well placement strategies. Evaluate current practices and identify opportunities for innovations using data science applications to predict reservoir quality and optimize hydrocarbon recovery. Coordinate multiple projects during well planning to optimize well placement using diverse petrophysical data. Monitor wells during and after completion operations. Communicate findings through presentations to technical peers and management. Provide support and advice in petrophysical areas. Mentor and develop junior professionals in applying petrophysical principles to drilling, completion, and production. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in petrophysics.
