Category All Clear Select how often (in days) to receive an alert: Create Alert × Select how often (in days) to receive an alert: Apply now » Technical Manager Date: Sep 15, 2026 Location: SA Job Description: Job Title Technical Manager Job location (Department/Plant) Engineering & Technical Support Management Reporting to Operation Manager/ GM, Technical Manager Job Summary To provide engineering support and technical consultancy to all NOMAC operated Power and water producing facilities in terms of resolving operational difficulties/troubleshooting, evaluating material performance, reviewing Plant/Equipment Designs/specifications, coordinating in developing Projects, suggesting proactive actions to enhance Plant Performance, minimize O&M cost, achieve targeted Plant availability, maximize sustainability of the production and the facility, suggest measures to extend Plant life, etc. Roles & Responsibilities S. No. Responsibility 1 To carryout diligent verification of basic data, design specifications, systems standards of major Plant equipments installed by the EPC Contractors in NOMAC operated Power & Desalination Projects or to be installed in new Projects. 2 To participate in developing the “Scope of Work” defining the functional requirements/ equipment specifications, in case any system/equipment requires modification to be performed by outsourced agency. 3 To assist Plant Management in responding to the queries and/or clarifications concerning technical specifications asked by the Contractors. 4 To assist Plant O&M crews in analyzing critical system upsets/operating problems and recommend measures to avoid recurrences. 5 To perform Residual Life Assessment (RLA) studies for the major Plant equipments and recommend corrective actions for extending the lifespan and/or for better and economic utilization of the equipment, wherever necessary. 6 To execute and offer engineering support and technical consultancy to NOMAC Plants in following major areas: Areas of Applied Studies: Process development and optimization of conventional thermal and membrane desalination processes; Optimization of pretreatment processes; Root cause identification of corrosion, scaling and other process related problems; Assessment of environmental impacts of Power/Desalination Plants discharges on the marine habitat and vice versa; Life prediction of major equipment and state-of-art assessment of Project designs and their current status. Areas of Evaluation Studies: Performance evaluation of different materials and equipment for the suitability and application in Desalination/Power industry; The materials may include propriety chemicals (e.g., antiscalants, antifoam, coagulants, O2-scavengers, disinfectants, corrosion inhibitors, cleaning agents and other treatment chemicals), metallic alloys, non-metallic construction materials, coatings, insulators, etc., whereas the equipment may include pressure exchangers, condenser tubes, ERDs, RO, UF, membranes, MCF elements, MHDs, Sponge Balls Cleaning System, Sponge Balls, etc. Areas of Troubleshooting Studies: Failure case studies; Event Investigations; Suggesting remedial actions for recurring and unusual problems; Monitoring feed and product water qualities. 7 Perform other duties as assigned. Job Specifications Educational Desired Bachelor degree of Engineering Preferred M.S. (Chemical Science or Chemical/Mechanical Engineering) with 20 years experience in relevant field OR Ph.D. (Chemical Science or Chemical/Mechanical Engineering) with 15 years relevant experience. Minimum Experience (Type and duration) Minimum 16 years with Bachelor degree in O&M of major Co-generation Plants (combined cycle Power generation and MED + SWRO Desalination units) in Senior Position OR 10 years with Ph.D. in O&M of major Co-generation Plants (combined cycle Power generation and MED + SWRO Desalination units) in Senior Position both having sound chemical, biological and metallurgical backgrounds. Preferable M.S. + 20 years Exp. with minimum 5 Papers/Project reports published and 5 Conferences attended all in the field of O&M of major Co-generation Plants (combined cycle Power generation and MED + SWRO Desalination units) OR Ph.D. + 15 years Exp. with minimum 5 Papers/Project reports published and 5 Conferences attended all in the field of O&M of major Co-generation Plants (combined cycle Power generation and MED + SWRO Desalination units) . Membership of national, regional and international professional Societies, Associations, Boards, Committees, Agencies, Forums, etc., will be counted extra merit. 1) Verify basic data, design specifications, and systems standards of major plant equipment installed by EPC contractors, for NOMAC-operated projects or upcoming projects. 2) Contribute to Scope of Work development, defining functional requirements/equipment specifications for modifications by outsourced agencies. 3) Assist Plant Management in addressing technical QA/QC queries from Contractors. 4) Support O&M teams in analyzing critical upsets/operating problems and recommend preventive actions. 5) Perform Residual Life Assessment (RLA) studies for major equipment and propose actions to extend lifespan or optimize utilization. 6) Provide engineering support and technical consultancy across areas: process development/optimization of desalination processes, pretreatment optimization, root-cause analysis of corrosion/scaling/related problems, environmental impact assessments, life prediction of equipment, and state-of-the-art project design assessments. 7) Evaluate materials/equipment performance for desalination/power applications; address related chemicals, alloys, coatings, insulators, and related components. 8) Conduct troubleshooting studies: failure case studies, event investigations, and remedial actions for recurring/unusual problems; monitor feed/product water qualities. 9) Perform other duties as assigned.
