Job Title: Section Head, Geology Reporting to: Manager, Copper Projects Business Unit / Function: Exploration & Resource Development Department: E&RD, Base Metals (BM Exploration) Grade: M11 Why This Role Matters The Section Head, Geology plays a critical role in advancing Maaden’s Base Metals Exploration strategy by leading geological programs that identify, evaluate, and mature copper resource opportunities within the exploration portfolio. The role ensures the generation of high-quality geological data, robust resource interpretations, and exploration insights that support investment decisions and long-term resource growth. The position creates value by optimizing exploration outcomes, improving geological confidence, and accelerating the progression of exploration targets into economically viable mineral resources. Through technical leadership, governance, and team development, the role strengthens exploration performance, reduces geological risk, and contributes to the sustainable growth of Maaden’s copper business. What You Will Deliver Strategy Execution & Resource Growth - Translate exploration strategy into geological programs that accelerate copper resource discovery and project advancement. - Identify, rank, and mature exploration targets based on geological potential, risk, and business value. - Deliver high-confidence geological interpretations that support resource growth and project investment decisions. Geological Excellence - Govern geological mapping, drilling, sampling, logging, and interpretation activities to ensure technical integrity. - Strengthen geological models through effective integration of field, geophysical, geochemical, and drilling data. - Improve resource confidence through the application of industry-leading geological methodologies and standards. Exploration Program Delivery - Deliver exploration campaigns safely, efficiently, and within approved schedules and budgets. - Optimize exploration expenditure by prioritizing high-value targets and technical work programs. - Ensure timely reporting of exploration results, discoveries, and key geological insights. Governance, Risk & Compliance - Maintain compliance with exploration, environmental, safety, and corporate governance requirements. - Manage geological risks through robust technical reviews, assurance processes, and data validation. - Ensure exploration data quality, integrity, and accessibility for future studies and resource evaluations. Stakeholder & Technical Leadership - Build strong alignment with exploration, resource geology, mining, technical services, and project development teams. - Provide expert geological guidance that supports business planning, project studies, and portfolio decisions. - Represent geological outcomes and recommendations to senior management and technical review forums. People Leadership & Capability Building - Develop a high-performing geology team through coaching, mentoring, and knowledge sharing. - Strengthen succession readiness and technical capability across the geology function. - Foster a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline. Preferred - Master’s degree in Geology, Economic Geology, or a related field. Experience - 10-12 years of relevant geological exploration experience within mining or mineral resource development. - Proven experience in base metals exploration, preferably copper exploration projects. - Experience leading geological field programs, drilling campaigns, and resource evaluation activities. - Demonstrated people leadership and team development experience. Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline. 10-12 years of relevant geological exploration experience within mining or mineral resource development. Proven experience leading geological field programs, drilling campaigns, and resource evaluation activities.
