Execute governance, inspections, license evaluations, and judicial enforcement. Embed safety in work practices. Strengthen processes using approved legislation and benchmarks. Provide incident feedback and expertise for emerging transport modes. Roles and ResponsibilitiesStrategy• Execute governance of safety activities for licensing and monitoring in line with railway legislation.• Develop processes for railway safety certification and regulation compliant with approved legislations and policies.• Implement certification and regulation processes considering international best practices, standards, and benchmarks.Operations• Conduct periodic safety inspections of railway systems and operators to verify license and legislative compliance.• Carry out judicial control duties and take action against violators under applicable railway legislation.• Periodically evaluate granted safety licenses for rail transport operators.• Support assurance that operators investigate serious, medium, minor, and imminent-risk incidents as required.• Support evaluation and issuance of certificates to third parties, safety consultants, and independents.• Review safety certification applications and provide necessary feedback to the section manager.• Prepare safety certificates aligned with approved legislations and processes.• Ensure safety is integrated into management and work practices to protect worker and public health and safety.• Support the business with expert safety judgement for emerging modes of transportation, including autonomous vehicles.Product/Process Improvement• Provide technical feedback after safety-critical incidents to drive improvement and/or enforcement actions.• Standardize certification and regulation workflows consistent with approved processes and policies.Physical Working Conditions• Attend railway safety critical incidents, emergencies, crises, major service disruptions, and special events as directed; operate on site when required.
