Job Purpose The Reception and Retail Specialist is a site-based position. The Reception and Retail Specialist is the first impression many guests will have of the Center at the asset. This first impression is crucial in delivering a high-quality visitor experience. The Reception and Retail Specialist will need to be a “people” person with an understanding of the provided activities. The Reception and Retail Specialist will be tasked with the administration of the center, as well as the retail outlet of the center. Organization is essential to deliver on this role. Job Responsibilities General Reporting directly to the Center Manager, assisting in the smooth running of the center asset. Assist the Senior Manager in the development of other centers at other assets. Maintain a professional appearance of the center. Ensure all sales are conducted in a professional manner. Work remotely and visit office as and when required. Manage inventory for preopening. Prepare retail stock for future years. Manage the purchasing budget. Ensure sufficient stock. Establishment of the Center: Pre-Opening Work alongside the Center Manager to develop and deliver the centre and necessary components. Working alongside and supporting all RSSE during Delivery stage to ensure targets are achieved, operational phasing is initiated when required and projects are delivered as designed. Become familiar with the retail products in stock. Become familiar with the activities in the area. Become familiar with the courses on offer, this includes understanding the required materials, paperwork, and standards (ie prerequisites, age) necessary for specific courses. Establishment of the Center: Post-Opening All activities conducted from the Center are conducted in a professional manner. Assist operation staff to ensure all daily activities are conducted in a safe and professional manner. Ensure up to date and accurate records are kept pertaining to retail activities. Plan and direct the day-to-day operations of a retail outlet according to company policy. Develop strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales, and increase profitability to achieve financial goals. Ensure customer needs are met, complaints are resolved, and service is quick and efficient. Daily attention to ethical business practises, safety, cleanliness, company appearance and uniform standards, and approved environmental practises at location, elevating significant issues to the Center Manager. Ensure retail products and displays are merchandized effectively to maximise sales and profitability. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, co-workers, and the public. Maintaining accurate inventory records and preparing orders from suppliers. Assisting staff/students with course registration and/or rental equipment. Taking bookings and answering questions about courses/activities destinations. The Center Receptionist is often the link between students and the staff Team. Policies, Systems, Processes, Procedures, Standards and Reports Adopt and follow all relevant functional policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions to ensure the center operates in a controlled and consistent manner. Manage and oversee day-to-day operations of the retail outlet and center. Maintain professional appearance and ensure all sales are conducted professionally. Work remotely when appropriate and visit the office as required. Manage inventory for preopening and ongoing operations; prepare retail stock for future years; manage purchasing budget and ensure sufficient stock. Collaborate with Center Manager on establishing and delivering the center and components for pre-opening; support RSSE delivery projects to meet targets. Become familiar with retail products and available activities, courses, prerequisites, and age requirements. Post-opening: ensure activities are conducted safely and professionally; maintain accurate records for retail activities; plan and direct daily retail operations according to policy. Develop strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales, and increase profitability. Address customer needs, resolve complaints, and maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and environmental practices. Ensure merchandise and displays maximize sales; maintain relationships with managers, staff, and the public. Maintain accurate inventory records and handle supplier orders; assist staff and customers with course registrations and rental equipment; handle bookings and inquiries about courses/activities and destinations. Serve as the link between students and staff; follow policies, procedures, and reporting requirements; uphold safety, quality, and environmental policies and continuous improvement initiatives.
