Senior ETL Tester

Senior ETL Tester (Data Warehouse / Data Quality) Experience Required: 10+ years in software testing, with at least 7 years focused on ETL and data warehouse testing Role Summary We are looking for a Senior ETL Tester to lead the validation of data integration, transformation, and reporting pipelines for enterprise clients. The role involves designing test strategies for large-scale data platforms, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and integrity from source to target, and guiding junior testers within the team. Key Responsibilities Define and own the ETL/data warehouse test strategy, test plans, and test scenarios aligned with business and technical requirements. Validate end-to-end data flows from source systems through staging, transformation layers, and data marts to reporting/BI outputs. Write and execute complex SQL queries to verify data completeness, accuracy, transformation logic, duplicates, and referential integrity. Perform source-to-target mapping validation, data reconciliation, and data profiling. Test incremental loads, full loads, CDC, SCD (Type 1/2/3), and historical data migration. Validate batch job scheduling, dependencies, error handling, and restartability. Design and implement test automation for data validation using Python, SQL frameworks, or ETL testing tools. Perform performance and volume testing of ETL jobs and optimize test data management. Validate BI reports and dashboards (Power BI, Tableau, Cognos, or similar) against the warehouse. Log, track, and triage defects in Jira/Azure DevOps and work closely with developers, data engineers, and business analysts to resolve them. Ensure compliance with data governance, data masking, and security standards (important for banking and government clients). Mentor junior testers, review their work, and contribute to test estimation and status reporting. Take part in UAT support and go-live/cutover validation. Required Skills and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. 10+ years of overall testing experience; 7+ years in ETL/data warehouse testing. Expert-level SQL (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Teradata, or similar), including joins, window functions, and query tuning. Hands-on experience with ETL tools such as Informatica PowerCenter/IDMC, IBM DataStage, Talend, SSIS, or Oracle ODI. Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts: star/snowflake schemas, fact and dimension tables, OLAP, and data marts. Experience with Python (Pandas, PyTest) or similar for data validation automation. Familiarity with Big Data and cloud platforms (Hadoop, Spark, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, Snowflake, or Databricks) is a strong advantage. Experience with test management and defect tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, qTest, ALM). Working knowledge of CI/CD and integrating data tests into pipelines. Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills; fluent English (Arabic is a plus). Preferred Qualifications ISTQB Advanced Level or equivalent certification. Experience in banking, financial services, telecom, or government domains. Exposure to data quality tools (Informatica DQ, Great Expectations, Talend DQ) and data governance frameworks.
