Job Title : BIM Engineer – Electrical - Project Location : Saudi Arabia Role Purpose The Electrical BIM Engineer will support the development, coordination, review, and management of electrical BIM models and related digital deliverables across design development, IFC readiness, shop drawing production, construction coordination, as-built development, AIM preparation, and digital handover. The Electrical BIM Engineer will work under the guidance and reporting of the BIM Manager and closely with the Technical Engineering Team to ensure that electrical BIM information is accurate, coordinated, technically aligned, constructible, properly documented, and compliant with the project BIM Execution Plan, Model Development Standard, Level of Information Need, BIM QA/QC procedures, Common Data Environment workflows, and ABCC Technical Engineering requirements. The role requires an engineering-based BIM professional with an Electrical / Building Services/ICT Engineering background, not a drafting-only profile. The candidate shall be capable of supporting electrical BIM production, model information quality, multidisciplinary coordination, clash resolution, constructability review, containment coordination, builders’ work coordination, shop drawing coordination, site support, QTO / 4D / 5D data readiness, asset information, testing and commissioning interface support, and project digital delivery workflows. The Electrical BIM Engineer shall actively support BIM coordination, technical coordination, design coordination, electrical coordination, ELV/interface coordination, ICT package coordination including Building Management systems (BMS) and construction coordination meetings. The role shall present model issues clearly, explain electrical coordination constraints, support issue resolution, follow up assigned actions, and coordinate with relevant project stakeholders until closure. DUTIES PREFORMED Electrical BIM Production & Model Information Quality • Develop, update, and maintain electrical BIM models in accordance with approved project BIM requirements, model standards, naming conventions, shared coordinates, levels, zones, worksets, systems, and CDE workflows. • Model and manage electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, small power, cable trays, trunking, conduits, busways / busducts, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, PV systems, distribution boards, panel boards, earthing, lightning protection, fire alarm, public address, BMS interfaces, ICT / telecom, security systems, access control, CCTV, equipment, electrical rooms, shafts, risers, ceiling services, and related electrical / ELV components. • Prepare electrical model views, coordinated plans, sections, elevations, electrical room layouts, riser layouts, shaft coordination views, ceiling coordination views, containment layouts, equipment schedules, panel / device schedules, builders’ work views, and model-based drawing outputs using Revit MEP and related tools. • Ensure model information is accurate, coordinated, structured, and suitable for design coordination, shop drawing production, construction support, quantity take-off, 4D/5D readiness, as-built updates, AIM, testing and commissioning support, and handover. • Maintain consistency between BIM models, electrical drawings, specifications, RFIs, TQs, site instructions, approved materials, equipment selections, design changes, and construction methodology requirements. • Review electrical model content before sharing to identify modelling gaps, duplicated elements, incorrect levels, missing parameters, incorrect system classification, disconnected circuits where applicable, wrong sizes, unresolved warnings, access issues, clearance issues, containment conflicts, and information quality issues. BIM Coordination, Clash Detection & Model Review • Support multidisciplinary BIM coordination between Electrical, Mechanical, Architecture, Structure, Civil / Infrastructure, Façade, Interiors, specialist systems, equipment suppliers, and Trade Contractor models. • Review federated models and identify electrical coordination issues, spatial clashes, hard clashes, soft clashes, access and maintenance clearance conflicts, ceiling congestion, shaft and riser conflicts, electrical room coordination issues, containment conflicts, equipment access constraints, panel clearance issues, and constructability risks. • Support clash detection, issue review, and clash resolution using Navisworks, ACC Model Coordination / BIM Collaborate, BCF, Revizto, or other approved coordination platforms. • Attend and actively participate in BIM coordination, technical coordination, design coordination, electrical coordination, ELV/interface coordination, and construction coordination meetings. • Present assigned BIM issues clearly, explain electrical coordination constraints, propose practical resolution options, update action trackers, and follow up assigned actions until closure. • Coordinate with the Technical Engineering Team and Electrical Engineering Team to ensure proposed BIM solutions are technically acceptable and aligned with design intent, specifications, authority requirements, access requirements, maintainability, constructability, and site conditions. • Escalate unresolved or high-impact coordination issues to the Senior BIM Coordinator, BIM Manager, and relevant technical discipline leads where required. Shop Drawing, Construction Documentation, As-Built & Handover Support • Support electrical shop drawing production from coordinated BIM models and approved IFC design information. • Prepare and support electrical plans, sections, elevations, coordinated ceiling plans, electrical room layouts, riser layouts, containment layouts, builders’ work drawings, penetration drawings, sleeve drawings, equipment layouts, support coordination views, panel/equipment layouts, and interface drawings. • Ensure electrical shop drawings and model-based outputs are coordinated with Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Civil / Infrastructure, Façade, Interior, Fire/Life Safety, Authority, Testing & Commissioning, and specialist package requirements. • Support builders’ work coordination, including penetrations, sleeves, openings, equipment plinths, housekeeping pads, access panels, maintenance zones, electrical room access, cable route access, and ceiling access requirements. • Support construction documentation and package readiness by providing coordinated model views, drawing inputs, schedules, quantities, and issue resolution support. • Support progressive as-built BIM updates by incorporating verified redlines, site mark-ups, approved changes, survey inputs, equipment data, installation records, inspection records, testing and commissioning records where applicable, and final construction information. • Support AIM, COBie, Asset Register, electrical equipment asset data, system data, panel data, device data, O&M linkage, maintainability information, and digital handover information where required. • Coordinate with Document Control to ensure BIM deliverables are correctly named, revised, uploaded, transmitted, and tracked through ACC and/or Aconex.
