Senior Electrical Engineer (District Cooling & Buildings)

Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE Experience: 8+ Years | Employment Type: Full-time Mandatory Credentials: DMT Approval, TAQA/ADDC Registration, UAE Society of Engineers Membership Job Overview We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to oversee the installation, testing, commissioning, and site management of Medium Voltage (MV), Low Voltage (LV), and Extra Low Voltage (ELV) electrical systems. The ideal candidate will have specialized hands-on experience in District Cooling Plants (DCP) and major building electrical services within Abu Dhabi. You must hold valid engineering approvals from the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) and TAQA (or Abu Dhabi Distribution Company - ADDC) to lead regulatory compliance, authority approvals, and site executions seamlessly. Key Responsibilities • Site Installation & Construction Supervision: Lead the installation of MV systems (switchgear, transformers, RMUs), LV distribution (MCC panels, VFDs, MDBs), and ELV/automation systems (BMS, SCADA, CCTV, Fire Alarm) connected to heavy cooling plant machinery and chillers. • Authority Approvals & Regulatory Compliance: Serve as primary liaison with DMT, TAQA, and ADDC to secure design approvals, site inspections, NOCs, meter installations, and final power energization in accordance with local wiring codes. • Testing & Commissioning (T&C): Direct integrated T&C activities for MV/LV equipment and plant BMS/SCADA systems; approve Method Statements, ITPs, MARs, and resolve site RFIs/NCRs. • Project Governance & Leadership: Coordinate across clients, MEP consultants, main contractors, and plant operators while ensuring strict adherence to HSE standards and mentoring junior site staff. Required Qualifications & Key Skills • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent). • Experience: 8+ years in UAE electrical site execution, with proven expertise in District Cooling Plants (DCP), central chiller rooms, or industrial MEP facilities. • Mandatory Approvals: Certified by DMT, registered with TAQA / ADDC, and member of the UAE Society of Engineers (SoE). • Technical Mastery: MV/LV switchgears, transformers, earthing, power factor correction, UPS, generators, VFDs, BMS/SCADA integration, and TAQA/ADDC Wiring Regulations (NFPA 70/72, IEC/BS). • Software & Communication: Proficient in AutoCAD, ETAP, MS Office/Project; fluent written and spoken English.
