Consultant – Renewable Energy (PV · Wind · BESS · Hybrid)

At MAI Group, we bring together 25+ years of international consultancy experience, a strong track record in energy, water, environment, and management consulting, and project experience in more than 145 countries. We support clients worldwide with high-value technical advisory, engineering, and project management services, helping turn complex projects into sustainable, practical, and high-impact solutions. As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a Consultant to join our Renewable Energy business unit in Saudi Arabia. In this role you will support the full lifecycle of utility-scale renewable projects — from technical due diligence and tendering to construction supervision and operations — working hand-in-hand with our clients, collaborators and engineering teams. If you are an engineer with solid hands-on experience across PV, Wind, BESS and hybrid projects and you want to play a key role in the energy transition and Vision 2030, we'd love to hear from you. Key Responsibilities • Coordinate with clients and collaborators to conduct site visits and contribute to quarterly construction reports and annual & semi-annual operation supervision reports. • Perform Technical Due Diligence (TDD) to support the acquisition of projects at different development stages, including project evaluation, basic engineering and supporting technical studies. • Review asset performance and the contractual framework (PPA, EPC, O&M contracts) as well as the Financial Model. • Coordinate transversal engineering activities and supervise the design and development of renewable projects. • Manage the initial design phase of projects and the tender process — preparing the RFP and evaluating offers. • Carry out energy yield studies and CAPEX, OPEX and LCOE estimates. • Coordinate and manage new projects from inception to delivery. What We're Looking For (Must-Haves): • 🎓 Engineering degree (a post-graduate degree in energy or engineering is preferred). • 🛠️ 2-3 years of relevant experience in the renewable energy sector. • ⚡ Proven experience with PV, Wind, BESS and hybrid projects. • 📊 Experience in feasibility studies and technical due diligence, reviewing asset performance, the contractual framework (PPA, EPC, O&M) and the Financial Model. • 📝 Experience in tender processes — RFP elaboration and evaluation of offers. • 🏗️ Experience in the management of Photovoltaic and Wind power plant projects. • 📈 Experience in energy yield studies and estimation of CAPEX, OPEX and LCOE. • 🚗 Experience in site visits and site assessments. • ✅ Valid driving license for KSA and UAE. Nice to Have (Desirable) • Experience in the design or supervision of substation design. • Additional hands-on experience in BESS projects. What We Offer • A permanent (indefinite), full-time contract (40 hours/week). • A competitive remuneration package. • The opportunity to work on landmark renewable energy projects in one of the world's fastest-growing clean-energy markets. • A collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment with strong growth opportunities. At MAI Group, we are proud to work with a hands-on, independent, and innovation-driven approach, supporting the global energy transition through renewables, storage, hydrogen, transmission, and distribution projects. If you are looking for an international challenge and want to join a company committed to technical excellence, sustainability, and long-term value creation, we would love to hear from you.
